What’s in a name? Springfield preschool edition
As of Tuesday night, Springfield City Schools officials still haven’t settled on a name for the former Clark Middle School building.
The district’s central offices and preschool programs will be housed at Clark beginning this year. From the suggestions I’ve heard so far, Clark will most likely remain in the name.
Clark Early Learning Center is one of the proposed names. Typically buildings that house pre-kindergarten programs end up with some variation of pre-school, early learning or early childhood in the title.
The double-purpose of the building seems to be the wrinkle here. Early Learning Center really only reflects half of the use, ignoring the administrative office part. Those buildings typically become some variation of board offices, administrative offices or central offices.
What do you think the building should be called in its new use?

How about “Clark Waste Center” to reflect the incredible wast of millions of dollars taxpayer dollars in tearing down operable building and building new buildings we don’t need only to close them after the first year.
