Clark County board member to be recognized

Clark County Educational Services Center Board of Education member John Agle will be recognized next week for having served more than 25 years as a school board member, according to a press release from the Ohio School Boards Association.

Agle will be presented with the OSBA’s Veteran Board Member Award at the association’s annual conference next week, Nov. 10-12 in Columbus.

Agle is one of only five board members in the state who will receive this award this year. There are more than 3,400 board members in Ohio, according to the OSBA.

Unfortunately Clark County still has a long way to go in improving the education for all the schools in the area. What has Mr. Angle done to improve the schools in the area?People should be awarded for what thies performance-not just for showing up.In the 25 yrs he has been on the school board has the schools in the area become better or worse or stayed the same…lets just say I have not seen any improvements.

Null, you are correct that his name is Agle; the release from the Ohio School Boards Association said Angle.

Who cares of a spelling error in a blog? The fact is I do not see any progression in our area schools academically. When we have students at the high school level who are surprised to hear that the US had a Cival War and those who do know that fact only 1/2 can tell you who won. Then why should we recognize a person for being involved in that education system for 25 yrs.Because that person did nothing extradornary that’s for sure.Maybe Mr. AGLE has worked hard and it definitely is not entirely his fault, but obviously he has worked harder and not smarter or or education system in Clark county would not have the issues it does when it comes to academics. We need to stop recognizing people for an Ok to poor job and start expecting them to make positive changes…it is called accountability. The scary thing is that these students don’t basic Amer History (which is one of the easier subjects)..I can only imagine the science and math knowledge our child have.

I have known Dr. Agle for many years and there is no board member from any school district or ESC who is more dedicated to improving education than John Agle. Improving education is not up to one individual…it is up to all of us doing our part. John has been a strong advocate toward making education better. I hope other board members, the public and all who understand the issues in education will take the attitude that it is up to us to make a difference. It is leaders like John Agle to carry the message. Congratulations, John on serving us for all of these 25 years.

No one is saying he is a bad guy or even questioning his intentions.I am questioning his results…which to me is most important. The path to hell is paved with good intentions.I also agree it is not entire up to him but up to all of us, that is why I volunteer my time instead of just throwing money at charities. But as a leader Mr Agle should be held to higher standards when it comes to the results and I am sorry I have not seen the results.I spent several years teaching in the SCS district and know many still there and I can honestly tell you the lack of support by everyone is why our schools produce such low quality students.Administrators take little accountability for their decisions, parent take no accountability for their lack of parenting, teachers take little accountability for their ineffectivenesss and students make little effort to learn. All are to blame from the bottom to the top, but Mr. Agle has had 25 yrs to lead a change that from my seat out in the public has not been accomplished.I to congratulate him for his time, but I can congratulate him on his results.I do not celebrate medicore results and I do not accept just getting the job done, I expect continuous positive results and I would you hope you do too when it comes to educating our children.
