Tecumseh negotiations
The Tecumseh Education Association has released a statement that teachers will not be attending open houses or parents meetings this year.
According to a release from the TEA, Tecumseh teachers have been working without a contract for eight months and negotiations have reached an impasse.
Attending open houses and parent meetings in the past was a volunteer activity teachers did on their free time, according to the announcement. Because the teachers do not have a contract they will not be attending those events.
See the full statement after the jump and look for an update later.

The Tecumseh Education Association would like to inform all parents, families, and Tecumseh Local community members that teachers will not be attending the open houses/parent meetings this year. In the past we have volunteered our free time to attend these events. Unfortunately, we are currently working without a contract. We have been in the process of contract negotiations for the last eight months and the negotiations are now at an impasse. Thanks for your understanding and support - we are looking forward to an amazing school year!
