Wittenberg makes Princeton Review Rankings

Wittenberg University is included in the Princeton Review’s latest list of top universities, released this week.

The Princeton Review list is based on rankings for academic and social aspects of colleges and universities.

Wittenberg ranked No. 7 for “More to Do on Campus,” earning a spot on the Princeton Review’s 2009 list of the top 368 colleges and universities in the country. The top 20 schools in each category in each group of rankings make the list.

Several Ohio schools have made the list this year although some of the rankings they made it for might not be considered very prestigious.

My alma mater, Ohio University, was included for its No. 5 ranking on the “Party Schools” and “Lots of Beer” lists and a No. 1 ranking for “Lots of Hard Liquor,” a reputation officials were working hard to put to rest when I was there not long ago (I’m guessing we won’t be seeing a press release on that one).

Ohio Northern University ranked #6 for “Election? What Election?” and #11 for “Homogeneous Student Population.”

The Ohio State University is included on the list for a No. 19 “Best Athletic Facilities” ranking.

Miami University of Oxford ranked #11 “Alternative Lifestyles Not an Alternative,” #7 “Best Campus Food,” #4 “Homogeneous Student Population,” #4 “Little Race/Class Interaction,” and #19 “Major Frat and Sorority Scene.”

The University of Cincinnati ranked #19 “Diverse Student Population” and the University of Dayton ranked #11 for “Everyone Plays Intramural Sports” and #7 for “Happiest Students.”

Here’s all the colleges that made the list this year.

Anybody with first-hand experience with any of these schools have a comment?
