73 year olds rumble during banquet

It seems some bad blood never dries.

Angelo Mosca clearly didn’t think Joe Kapp’s flower joke was all that funny Friday night at the Canadian Football League banquet in Vancouver.

Instead of saying “thanks,” Mosca told his 73-year-old former football rival to effectively stick the flower where the sun doesn’t shine.

What happened next can be called the septuagenarian fight of the century.

Mosca whacked Kapp with a microphone and a cane. Kapp went all Rocky III. Kapp, the only person to play quarterback in Rose Bowl, Grey Cup and Super Bowl games, delivered some extremely solid punches.

This wasn’t about a flower of course.

The grudge goes back 48 years to the Grey Cup between Kapp’s British Columbia Lions and Mosca’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Kapp, a San Francisco resident, told the newspaper that Mosca made a cheap shot, hitting another player late during the game.

“Here comes Mosca and he hits Willie (Fleming) in the head. I got into his face and cursed at him in two languages, English and Spanish. Willie won’t talk to him (to this day),” Kapp said. Kapp says on the video that he holds a grudge a really longtime. Do you?
