FilmDayton director resigns

Update Oct. 25, 2011

FilmDayton President Ron Rollins says a new executive director should be named this week.

Original Post

Eva Buttacavoli, the director of FlimDayton, has resigned from her post.

In an email, Buttacavoli said the decision was tough, but she has decided to move on after two years with the non-profit charged with promoting filmmaking in the Dayton area.

The former director of Exhibitions and Education at the Austin Museum of Art did not say what her future plans include.

Buttacavoli said a new director will be named in the near future.

From FilmDayton’s website:

“Since relocating to Dayton in 2009, Eva co-organized Creative Soul, an open, citywide art exhibition (Oct 2009); curated Hole in the Middle of the World at Wright State University (Jan 2010); served as juror for art exhibitions at Lexis Nexis and Sinclair Community College and continues to work closely with the Blue Sky Project, a summer artist residency program based on the University of Dayton campus.”

FilmDayton, The Dayton Art Institute and the Dayton Visual Arts Center announced last month that they are engaged in informal discussions about ways they might combine existing resources to save money.

Ron Rollins, president of FilmDayton’s board, is associate editor of Cox Ohio Newspapers.
