The simultaneous fund-raising shows are 8 p.m. Wednesday at O’Conners Irish Pub, 2336 Northmoor Dr., Springfield; and W.O. Wrights, 3979 Colonel Glenn Highway, Fairborn.

A third show will be held C-Level Bar & Grill in Panama City Beach, Florida.

The events are free, but donation jars will be set up and T-shirts will be sold. Money raised will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Originally from Springfield, Compton now splits his time between the Miami Valley and Florida.

The acoustic guitarist started Pink Beards for Breast Cancer Awareness last year after learning a friend’s mother was battling breast cancer.

“My goal is to have it nationwide,” he said of the fundraiser.

This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of Eileen Meyers, the mother of one of Compton’s close friends. She died last month of breast cancer.

Audience members are encourage to dye their beards pink or wear pink.

A night or so with a pink beard is a small sacrifice really.

Don Miller of Springfield is wearing a pink beard all month-long to help raise awareness.

Compton, formerly of the local band Shovelhead, will host the W.O. Wrights show and perform with Jonathan Womacks.

Local comedian Mike Etienne will take the stage between sets. Todd Hennigan will preform at the Springfield.
