Segway tours hit Dayton
It wasn’t just your imagination.
You may actually have seen dozens of people in yellow safety vests cruising through downtown Dayton on Segway machines.
The groups you’ve seen have been led by Dayton Segway Tours.
The company, owned by Shawn Jenkins and Kristy Daniels of Cincinnati, launched in the Dayton area last month.
The pair started Segway of Cincinnati about five years ago. Karly Morgan, a booking agent, said business has been brisk here and in Cincinnati.
The historical downtown Dayton tours starts at the Dayton Convention Center weekdays at 8 am. and 6 p.m. Weekend tours begin at 8 a.m., 11 a.m. 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., Morgan said.
“It’s a different way to see the city,” she said. “Once you get on a Segway you don’t want to get off.”
The 90-minute tours cost $60. An additional half an hour is used for training.
The tour hits the Oregon Historic District, Fifth Third Field, the RiverScape MetroPark area, the Great Miami River, University of Dayton and Woodland Cemetery. A detailed tour of the cemetery is also available.
Tours will end around Nov. 20 and pick back up in March, Morgan said.

Riding (gliding) on a Segway was a great experience, seeing Dayton’s history was a bonus.

If you go downtown dayton on a segway.Someone will sleal it and buy drugs.waste of time going downtown……..

Would a better option be the Burbs? “Alright everyone start out going left and see the strip mall, then turn right and see another strip mall, then go straight and see the same slapped up housing development you saw the last block in between strip malls, all while inhaling SUV fumes.
