Ohio amusement park named ‘best in the world’

Want to get your thrills at the best amusement park in the world?

“Amusement Today” says you don’t have to look farther than Cedar Point in Sandusky.

The park was named “Best Amusement Park in the World” for the 14th consecutive year during the trade newspaper’s Golden Ticket Awards Saturday.

Dick Kinzel, CEO of Cedar Fair Entertainment Company which owns operates Cedar Point, Kings Island and nine other amusement parks, was selected to become a member of the Legends Series.

It “recognizes the top examples of dedication, leadership and achievement in the amusement industry.”

Cedar Point’s Millennium Force roller coaster was also named as the “Best Steel Roller Coaster” for the second consecutive year. Click here to see the other winners.

I grew up in Lima, so Cedar Point was an annual event. I worked at Kings island after HS. while both parks have a lot to offer, Cedar Point, because of its other ammenities (Lake Erie, Put-In _bay and the other islands, Port Clinton etc), it just trumps the others. the prices are far cheaper than Disney and Dollywood, Six Flags isnt relevant anymore, and Busch Gardens doesnt rise to the level of the others. I must say, although it would not be on any of levels of the listed parks, I still have fond memories of LaSourdsville Lake..

They forgot to mention Kennywood in Pittsburgh. It is not the best but it is a close third.

Parents took us to LaSourdsville Lake - what about Fantasy Farm next door. Chautaqua near Franklin/Miamisburg?

Personally chosen by Gary Slade, publisher and editor-in-chief of Amusement Today. So this is one person’s opinion. So when I say the Disney parks are the world’s best. We now have a tie.
