Kettering grad to appear tonight on “The Sing Off”
The second time around might be the charm for Kendall Young.
The bright-eyed Kettering Fairmont graduate will once again appear on NBC’s “The Sing Off.”
Hosted by Cincinnati native Nick Lachey, the show airs 8 p.m. tonight on WDTN-TV Channel 2.
Sixteen groups will compete for $200,000 and a record contract. They will be judged by singers Sara Bareilles, Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman.
Young, a singer/songwriter currently studying at Belmont University, will perform with Delilah, an all-female a cappella group made mostly of contestants from the show’s first two seasons.
Danielle Withers of Mason will sing with the group Afro Blue.
Young appeared on the show last year with Fairmont High School’s a capella group “Eleventh Hour.” The group was voted off during the second show.
If her Facebook post are any indications, she excited about the new opportunity.
“I am BLESSED to be back on The Sing Off with 7 other amazing girls this season,” she posted after NBC announced the show’s contestants last month.
Her band mates include Amy Whitcomb, Candace Eve, Geena Glaser, Hannah Juliano, Ingrid Andress, Johanna Vinson and Laina Walker
Here’s what NBC says of Delilah: “these young ladies have been singing across the country over the past couple years, but still carry an unfulfilled desire to conquer “The Sing-Off” stage. They have banded together to compete once again aiming to prove to America that an all-female a cappella group can win it.”
