Boonshoft otters, eaglets named by Germantown and Dayton residents
The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery has revealed the name of a pair of eaglets in the Mad River Well Field and a trio of otters who have taken up residence in its zoo.
Drum roll, please…
The juvenile eagles have been named “Spirit” and “Pride” as suggested by Dayton resident Lana Nicely.
“In my opinion, there is nothing more symbolic of America’s spirit and pride than the American Bald Eagle,” Nicely’s entry, one of several, said.
Nicely has followed the eaglets progress through the 2011 nesting season via the Boonshoft’s live feed called EagleCam. It is still viewable on its website, BoonshoftMuseum.org.
The playful otter brothers, new additions to the museum, have been named “Glider Guy,” “Diver Dan,” and “Splasher Sam” based on a suggestion from Brenda Robinette Hill of Germantown
The names were selected because they “incorporated both the animals’ affinity for water and playful natures,’ the Boonshoft said.
