Get free toothpaste Monday

A chain store and toothpaste maker are teaming up as part of a project to reduce the nation’s rising cavity rates.

Walmart has partnered with Colgate’s Bright Smiles Bright Futures to create “Building Smiles Together.”

The new initiative will provide free dental screenings and oral health education to children in need.

To kick it off the Building Smiles Together tour, free, trial-sized children’s toothpaste is being offered to families that visit BuildingSmilesTogether.com.

The site has all sorts of info about dental health.

Spirit and Pride

The juvenile eagles have been named “Spirit” and “Pride” as suggested by Dayton resident Lana Nicely.

“In my opinion, there is nothing more symbolic of America’s spirit and pride than the American Bald Eagle,” Nicely’s entry, one of several, said.

Nicely has followed the eaglets progress through the 2011 nesting season via the Boonshoft’s live feed called EagleCam. It is still viewable on its website, BoonshoftMuseum.org.

The playful otter brothers, new additions to the museum, have been named “Glider Guy,” “Diver Dan,” and “Splasher Sam” based on a suggestion from Brenda Robinette Hill of Germantown

The names were selected because they “incorporated both the animals’ affinity for water and playful natures,’ the Boonshoft said.
