Dayton placed on map in soon to be released sci-fi blockbuster
The new trailer for the movie “Super 8” puts Dayton on the map.
Wright Patterson Air Force Base and the Gem City play a part in the highly anticipated flick from J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg.
A map of the Dayton area is shown during the trailer about a group of young friends from a small Ohio town who witness a train derailment while filming a super 8 movie in 1979. Mysterious disappearances follow the train “accident.”
Wright Patterson Air Force Base was mentioned in an earlier trailer. The film is due in theaters June 10.

Dayton is considered the Top city on the Country here in Hollywood. All the top talent has come from the MidWest, and Dayton in particular.

Been here, am here, done that in the catacombs under WPAFB…I do like Marion’s Pizza better than Cassano’s. Got hooked on it one night at a welcoming party for the Zlorikian delegation from the planet ^%%$#^&. Note: I consider this movie a comedy….it’s sooooooo off base….. Disappearances? As the goat in that one AFLAC commercial sez: Nah—Nah—Nah.

Oh Bill, have you sunk so low as to post about things you don’t care about? Unplug your computer, put it in a box and move. Bye!

Is this supposed to be a feel-good ET-like movie, or a kill-everyone type of movie? Hard to tell from the preview.

Already found a movie flaw. Check the map …675 didn’t exist in 1979 LOL! Anyhoo, pretty cool. May have to check this one out.

JG records show that 675 existed in 1962. So it might just have been there in ‘79.

JG, good catch on the I-675 detail. The section north of Rt. 35 was partially complete in 1979. The section south of Rt. 35 wasn’t even approved until the Reagan administration took office in 1981. I think it was finished in the late 1980’s. If any of it existed in 1962, as the other writer claims, it was only in the long term planning stages.

Rather watch Falling Skies or X-Files reruns.

Armondo is correct about I-675. I moved to Dayton in ‘86 and have lived the entire time in the Dayton Mall area. I-675 in it’s current configuration was completed in 1989.
