Group makes donation to Children’s
TWIGs came through in a big way with its pledge to Children’s Medical Center of Dayton.
Terrific Women In Giving, an auxiliary of The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton, gave Charlie Foley, Chairman of Dayton Children’s Board of Trustees, a $257,000 check at its annual meeting last month.
The donation completed the final phase of a $500,000 TWIGS pledge toward the renovation of Dayton Children’s Soin Pediatric Trauma and Emergency Center, an Level II Trauma Center for children.
Cindy Guthrie, the 2010 Auxiliary President, announced the 2011 TWIG Auxiliary pledge of $500,000 over three years to provide funding toward the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Care Endowment.
Officials hope annual interest generated by the endowment will fund a social work position, a child life specialist specifically assigned to the cancer program and patient/family educational materials.
There are more than 300 TWIGS members in the Miami Valley.
They hold auctions, luncheons, fashion shows and sales to benefit Children’s. They have donated more than $8 million to the hospital.
