McDonald’s to raise its prices

That Big Mac might cost you a bit more in coming months.

Fast food giant McDonald’s plans to raise the price of it menu items to offset the cost of beef and other ingredients, according to the LA Times and other sources.

The company has not said how much prices will increase.

The amount McDonald’s spends on items like chicken and cheese is expected to go up 2 percent to 2.5 percent in the United States and 3.5 percent to 4.5 percent in Europe.

Are you willing to spend more money to get those Happy Meals?

What do you think?

I told you all that food prices would skyrocket. It depends how far McDonalds raises their prices. I depend a lot on fast food because I’m too tired to cook after working all day 5 days a week. I will tell you that I will go where it is cheaper…taco bell is cheap, and sometimes Arby’s has some good specials…As long as there is competition out there, we should be okay. But I’d worry about the Administration getting together with supermarkets like Walmart, etc…they could put the smaller guys out of business, and then our prices will skyrocket—I think this is Obama’s favorite word, Skyrocket. He used it when he was planning on increasing regulations and making energy prices SKYROCKET, which kind of makes me angry. Why would our prez want to raise consumer prices on energy? Is he trying to kill his chances for being reelected?

I really noticed this past week how much food prices have gone up at Kroger. I don’t know where this will all end, but I see no good coming to this country as long as the current administration is at the helm. For the first time in my long life, I’m starting to think that I’ll be living pay check to pay check and not saving a darn thing anymore.

s-girl, you need a better diet, woman! Try NOT EATING MEAT like 1 or 2 days a week. See the difference. Then research how your meat is factory farmed into submission and pumped full of growth hormone and antibiotics. It’s big business agriculture that moves prices around and keeps the small farmer on the low pole

People think Mr Obama, has more power than he has . The reason Mc Donalds is raising its prices is because the price of gasoline is going up . When gasoline goes up it goes through the system.

They could charge a penny at McDonalds and I wouldn’t eat that crap. And Sgirl, you do know that there are alternatives to fast food. Like making meals in advance and freezing them to reheat later and there’s always the old standby crock pot. Put something in it before you leave and it’s done when you get home. I work long hrs and do this and it works out well. Stay away from the fast food and live longer.

I hate to tell you all, but McDonalds is NOT food. It is chemically processed, hormone filled junk. Food prices seem to be rising everywhere, and it seems to reflect fuel costs, and also the freezing cold that has killed the crop supply in the south.

By Ohiogal

Food prices - and other things - are rising now because of A) the Fed deflating the value of the US Dollar by printing new money to monetize the debt and B) by people on the stock markets putting their money into commodities, which causes a “supply and demand” effect to kick in and C) crop failures in Russia, India and Africa, which is stressing the corn/wheat/rice supplies globally. Transportation costs are just a component of what is happening. Its not the single reason why food prices (and other things) are going up up up.

I read a news article about Taco Bell meat not being meat. Then Mcdonalds meat is something that can withstand a lifetime sitting outside. They add price for tomatoes, lettuce, and other condiments. Why bother. I will never go there if they were giving away food. I can trust Wendy’s knowing that is fresh product and fresh meat. At least knowing whats in the meat.

I hope everyone who is talking about other restaurants, realize that if they are chain restaurant, they get their food from a distributor. It is processed somewhere and packaged. If you care to see the beef from McD’s go to Findlay. That is where the plant is located at. I am pretty sure the only thing I saw there was beef. I agree there are healthier alternatives, but I would be wary of the big chain groceries as well.

@ larry green I don’t have a big bank account and I don’t have lots of time, but I try not to eat at fast food places at all. We prefer home cooked meals for 3 main reasons…1) FAMILY time togther 2) healthier ingrediants and 3) cheaper, cheaper, cheaper. If McDonalds raises their prices our family will eat there less than we do now (which is about twice a month)

Dale, why do you think gas keeps going up? Under who’s watch was our dollar deflated, huh? Did you know that Obama predicted our energy prices would “skyrocket”? Why? Because of his increased regulations, because Obama won’t let US drill on our shores but will let other countries do it, and because corn is being used now for ethanol/cars and now instead there is a lack of it for feed for animals, so food is going up, the gas is going up (deflated dollar), everything but our pay checks is going up. Increased regulations, monetizing of our money to help pay off the inflated debt (remember that $1 trillion hc package Obama passed???), etc. Did you know that this administration didn’t even pass a budget last year, passed all kinds of job killing bills and increased federal spending, but they want to freeze it for the next five years? I don’t believe Obama. I don’t believe he’ll hold to the freeze. And where are all those jobs we paid for? If we could cut the department of education (what do they do anyway?), cut the extra newly created federal agencies, cut the money going to special interest groups (like community organizations, communist organizations). Cut the freaking hc bill. It costs too much, Americans don’t want it, and it’s killing jobs. Employers won’t hire people when they have to pay more for hc insurance.

McDonalds is not my first pick for fast food, neither. I go there for breakfast sometimes, but even their coffee isn’t very good. I don’t think the quality of their food is the best so I will pick Wendy’s or Arby’s or even Taco Bell over McD’s. Don’t think you’ll be saving money in the near future because we are all going to pay for what this Administration has done to us. I don’t believe anything Obama says. From the moment he took control of the WH, he has held to a very left wing agenda even abusing the law to get it done. I’m not happy with their attack on the coal industry which will also cause our DPL to skyrocket. I have trouble making it from pay check to pay check, so I can’t understand how people can live on less than what I make. The only people making out are the people who live on welfare. Most of us don’t qualify for foodstamps even when we’re laid off, but if you are illegal alien or have a bunch of kids and have the right skin tone, you can get the foodstamps. I think that as long as our government is so politically driven, we should do away with all such entitlements. It’s not fair that certain people can get benefits and others are discriminated against because they have fair skin. It’s the truth, and you know it. BTW, I’m not prejudice, but I’m speaking from prior experience here. I remember when I was laid off and couldn’t get foodstamps. I couldn’t even afford McDonalds then.

So, Sassy thinks it is funny when white people are discriminated against? Then she agrees with our president Obama and his AG Holder. Remember the treatment of the Black Panthers who were harrassing voters during the last Prez election in Philadelphia PA? AG Holder didn’t do anything to them, even though it was caught on video, and there were many complaints. It’s only discrimination when the skin isn’t white, huh, Sassy? This country will never be united as long as we have racists (not) representing us in the White House. And don’t lie, you know that white people are discriminated against at the Jobs and Family Services, welfare, etc. It’s the truth.

Egg mcmuffins are all I ever get at MdD’s, so I doubt the price would go up enough to deter me from the occasional breakfast sandwich. FYI to the food snobs out there, Julia Child enjoyed Big macs. One more thing: Squirrelly person is aptly named. She has the Fox news talking points down pat!

Squirrellygirl, here is a clue…you were evaluated and didn’t qualify for food stamps and your “fair-skin” had nothing to do with it. Millions of your so called “fair-skin” receive some type of assistance. Why don’t you contact the agency below if you feel that strong about it. To file a discrimination complaint, write or call USDA or ODJFS: USDA Director, Office of Civil Rights 1400 Independence Avenue, S.W. Washington, D.C. 20250-9410 (800) 795-3272 (202) 720-5964 (TTY)

I’m finished with McDonald’s, we don’t get what we pay for now, servings have alreadt gotten smaller. Also, “the food will kill people”, it’s simply unhealthy, look at all the fat people that go there, they eat and then go home and take their colestrol medicine and shoot in the insulin.

My comments above were called dumb for saying “gas and food prices are going up because of this Administration’s policies” but DDN deleted my reply to this comment. That’s unfair. Gas went up because under Obama’s watch, the FED is monetizing our debt and causing our dollar to be worth less, and they are raising the debt ceiling because it isn’t enough now. Instead of repealing the hc bill that caused another trillion in debt to our budget (along with all of the newly created agencies that will require our tax money to start them up and continue them), Obama put a moratorium on drilling for US, but is allowing foreign countries to drill in the same waters. The corn that should be used for feed for animals is being used for ethanol for our cars. This is causing food prices to go up, in addition to the devaluing dollar. This administration has attacked the coal industry so now we are even more dependent on foreign oil, and that is also causing energy prices to SKYROCKET. It’s not getting any better folks. No matter how Obama changes up his wording, he’s saying the same stuff and his actions speak louder than words.

S’girl, ODJFS does not give illegal immigrants food stamps or medical assistance. You were turned down because you were over income. They don’t pick and choose who to give food stamps to. I know from experience as well. The people that live off of welfare aren’t “making it” either. Kind of amusing that people think that. You should be happy that you were over income for food assistance, not complain about it.

By ohiodale

Do we have a choice to pay for food if the prices go up? I don’t eat much of any fast food but the real fact is all food and energy costs are skyrocketing. The Obama administration has devalued the dollar by printing a trillion dollars to pay for the so call economic stimulous. For example, has anyone noticed oil is just under $100/barrel and the price of gas is at $3 a gallon. When oil was at $150/barrel gas was at $4. If gas hits $150/barrel again expect to pay $5/gallon because our dollar is not worth what it was 2 years ago. I like how no news media is not talking about the high inflation. Last year they say inflation was 1.7% excluding food and energy costs. I don’t know about the rest of you, but besides paying for housing food and energy costs are the main part of my budget. Food and gas has gone up a lot in the last 2 years.

It’s amazing how much free publicity McDonalds gets. Smaller burger places that actually put out an edible product have been at the mercy of food wholesales for several years. I’m sure McDonalds will find yet another way to undercut their competition.
