Kentucky radio station expanding into Dayton

An Kentucky based public radio station is improving its signal and expanding its range to Dayton and beyond.

Beginning Feb. 1, WNKU 89.7 FM, which is based at Northern Kentucky University, will simulcast its signal on two new stations - 105.9 FM in Middletown, which can be heard from the near Cincinnati to Dayton, and 104.1 FM in Portsmouth, which reaches to Chillicothe, Huntington, W.Va, Maysville, Ky.

The station will be heard in 51 new counties in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia, according to a letter on its web site.

Founded in 1985, WNKU’s potential audience will grow from 1,063,000 to more than 3.3 million.
