Dayton raised chef in running to be ‘The Next Iron Chef’
A familiar face with not much to prove is on one of the most rigorous cooking shows ever created.
Dayton’s internationally recognized chef Ming Tsai is competing on The Food Network’s “The Next Iron Chef.”
The show airs Sundays.
The Emmy-winning host of public television’s “Simply Ming” said he is not on the show to prove to the world that he can cook.
“I am doing this to prove to myself that I’ve still got game,” said the chef of 25 years.
Tsai is off to a good start. He won the first elimination round.
The last chef standing will become an iron chef and appear on the show of the same name.
Tsai grew up in Dayton cooking alongside his parents at the Mandarin Kitchen, the family’s restaurant.
The 1982 graduate of the Miami Valley School and owner of Blue Ginger in Wellesley, Mass. will appear at Think TV, Fourth and Jefferson streets in Dayton, for a book sign and meet and greet 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4.
Light refreshments will be served. Space is limited. Contact William N. Miller at (937) 222-2424.
