New clothing store, interior coffee shop coming to Dayton Mall
A retailer aiming to appeal to “savvy, fashion conscious customers with a twenty-something attitude”, and a coffee shop that offers “something unique” will open soon at the Dayton Mall, said mall spokesman David Casper.
Maurices, which promises hottest clothing and accessories for young women in sizes 1-24, will open in November near the Old Navy store.
Saxbys Coffee will open in the food court on the upper level Oct. 12.
Casper said it will be the first coffee shop inside the mall since The Coffee Beanery closed about six years ago.
“Of all the request we hear at Guest Services, an interior coffee shop is number one,” Casper said.
There is a Winans Fine Chocolates and Coffees location in the mall’s village and a Seattle’s Best Coffee in the Borders Books and Music store.
Maurices, which is owned by Dress Barn Inc., has more than 750 stores in 44 states. The Dayton Mall shop will be its first in Montgomery County.
It has a location in Lebonan, Casper said.
The chain has hired Erin Mallory, previously first assistant at the Maurices location in Oxford, as the Dayton Mall store’s manager.

Walked through the mall last night. Hadn’t been there in months. I was surprised by the number of junk stores and kiosks operating there. Especially on the E-B end. Reminded me of the early days of the downturn at Salem Mall.

Great…Saxby’s will be another great place for the rowdy throngs of bus people to loiter after shoplifting new dresses from Maurices.

It’s a shame the coffee location will be in the food court. I purposely avoid that area when running to the mall.

Winams chocolates is the worst place to go for chocolates. Walk in the place and it smells like coffee NOT chocolate. Dayton mall has become a trash mall!

Wow! For the past 25 years all I have ever heard is that the Dayton Mall is on the decline. Yet somehow it seems to stay in business and actually get better. Give it a rest. The Mall is surrounded by some of the finer communities in the Dayton area (Washington Twp, Centerville, Springboro, Miami Twp.) and because of it the mall will be fine.

The interior of Dayton Mall doesn’t seem to be a great location for a coffee shop. Why would you go there when there is a Starbucks accross the street??

Unfortunately as long as the buses run out there, I won’t spend my money. It’s too much of a hassle trying to avoid the crowds of kids and thugs. Sorry, it is what it is !

I never ceases to amaze be just how bigoted people in Dayton are. The Dayton Mall is not half as bad as people make it out to be. Stop being so busy worrying about how “rowdy throngs of bus people, kids and thugs” and how they offend your supposed delicate sensibilities… and just shop for crying out loud.

You should be glad to have such a mall here, moved here from smaller community and those malls are really declining. I shop there all the time and enjoy Dayton Mall and I come from a community without “rowdy throngs of bus people, kids and thugs”.

“…actually get better?” Yeah. That kiosk selling martial arts movies on DVD was a real big boost to the culture of the community.

“…just shop for crying out loud.” I do just shop…at the Greene, Fairfield Commons and online. You know…places where a customer feels safe.

Well for those of you who feel unsafe, go to the mall before 6. And also there is a curfew that is STRONGLY enforced for those teens that are “rowdy and thugs”. But that’s ok if you don’t shop there, stuck up people like you belong elsewhere. And just how safe do you feel walking a half mile out to your car at the Greene that’s surrounded by apartments and bars?

The RTA has ruined the Dayton Mall!!!! In fact the RTA has ruined the suburbs!! No way will my family set foot in the crime infested Dayton Mall….Thugs ride the RTA to the Dayton Mall then if they don’t get arrested for stealing inside the mall they will steal a car to get back to Dayton….And think people of Mont Cty, you pay an additional .5% sales tax to subsidize that piece of crap RTA.

I live in Springboro and shop at the mall all the time. I’ve never had a problem or felt unsafe with the crowd at the mall. I’d like to see more store upstairs though

Who would go to the new coffee place over Starsucks? ME! I hate that place - I’ve had better coffee from a rest stop. But, now that I know there is a Winan’s - I will definitely go there - I love their coffee AND their chocolates. As for Maurice’s - Eh. Not impressed, nothing there that you can’t get in one of the other many clothing stores already at the mall.
