Masquerage 2010 theme unmasked
And the cat - in this case the devil and the angel - is out of the bag.
The theme for Masquerage, AIDS Resource Center Ohio’s annual circus of the imagination, was unveiled during a fund raising party at CoCo’s Sunday night, June 27.
More than $4,000 was collected.
Organizers are leaving the interpretation of the theme, “Heavenly Pleasures and Sinful Delights,” up to partygoers.
“Everyone has the chance to decide what that means to them,” said ARC spokeswoman Lisa Grigsby. “I envision some very interesting costumes this year beyond angels and demons.”
Masquerage 2010 is slated for Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Montgomery County’s Fair’s roundhouse.
General admission to Masquerage 2010 is $50. VIP tickets are $150 and include a heavenly view.
ARC Ohio offers education and assists people who have HIV/AIDS.

They seem to be promoting people playing out sexual fantasies, which does not seem appropriate for an AIDS awareness benefit.

“Organizers are leaving the interpretation of the theme, “Heavenly Pleasures and Sinful Delights,” up to partygoers.” ——- Interpretation? I would hope the partygoers don’t have to use too many remaining brain cells to adequately interpret the theme with a mindful approach to safety.

Good gosh, what is the matter with you people? ARC does great work and this is a wonderful cause and event. Why do you have to be so negative?

Whatev, but that picture is kind of gross. What’s wrong with that guy’s pants (oh wait, I get it now), and why is he wearing white jeans? Not at all classy.

it’s nice how this makes front page of DDN.. what a joke, this shouldn’t be allowed at all more or less given front page. When was the last time a Church activity was on the front page? DDN heavily supports gay, and is slanted democrat, and repeatedly over the years just made stuff up and reported it as truth. Yellow to the core, I wish they would get a new management group. Till then I will never pay to read anything it has to say.

…And off to your right is a pile of stones. Each of you take a stone or two and line up. Remember: allow the one who is without sin to cast the first stone and the rest of you follow.

nottoday I seem to remember in the not so distant past that the blasphemous lightning rod otherwise known as Touchdown Jesus had the front page of the DDN for many, many days. That was no more a grotesque spectacle to some as this may be for you. However, I seem to remember that freedom of the press being a First Amendment right….get a grip!

Could someone please explain to me why there is all this negative energy over a fundraiser. I don’t see anyone getting out of shape over an Arts Gala or an event for the Leukemia Society. This is a worthy cause for an organization that works hard all year supporting. No one is forcing you to donate to this, it’s simply highlighting that there are still good things going on in Dayton. And by the way Nottoday, straight people can get AIDS too, grow up.

it’s not about casting stones, it’s about standing up for what is right, and standing up against what is not. And this isn’t right, it’s not wanted here, most people are just scared of being singled out if they stand up against the gays.

FIRST OF ALL, to all you haters out there, we raised ALOT of money with this and there were ALOT more straight people there than gay and if it was not wanted here it would not have been a HUGE success for almost ten years now, if you don’t like it, DONT COME its that simple, and for those who left messages about NOT reading DDN, YOU JUST DID hahaha….MASQUERAGE 2010 WAS AMAZING yet again with the biggest turn out EVER….

I’m shocked at the fact there were so many negative remarks about this fundraiser. This is a great cause in which I have not only volunteered for in the past but also attended for fun. For those of you who think its such a negative avent, why don’t you go sometime and see what it’s really about. It’s about safe sex and helps raise money to find a cure for AIDS. This is a disease that not only the gay community deals with but also others including small children. Hope you change your mind after you do a little more research.
