Group: robot should replace groundhog
If PETA had its way, Punxsutawney Phil would go to the old groundhog’s home and be replaced by a robot.
The animal rights group subjecting the famous fur ball to loud crowds is cruel.
He should replaced by an animatronic model that could be used to predict the weather, PETA says according to the Associated Press.
We all knew robots were taking over, but come on. Who wants a groundhog without a pulse?
William Deeley, president of the Inner Circle of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, defended the use of Punxsutawney, saying the animal is “being treated better than the average child in Pennsylvania.”
Meanwhile, Ivy, the Boonshoft’s resident groundhog, is preparing to make her prediction.

I don’t think a ‘robot’ would have been quite as funny on Bill Murray’s face in “GroundHog Day”…(excellent old movie, by the way)

PETA’s actual real meaning: People Eating Tasty Animals.

When PETA makes pronouncements like this, it only shows how out of touch they are with real life. If they wanted to advance their cause, they would get down to nuts and bolts issues that affect animals on a daily basis, not fluff like this.

I think we ought to stick PETA in a hole in the ground and drag them out only once a year.

I thought PETA was a bunch of robots. I say turn Punxsutawney Phil loose and then he will get smashed on the highway. Thanks PETA for your kind concern. Live free or die, right?

I think a robot makes perfect sense. They used a robot groundhog in caddyshack. Can you imagine how terrified that poor little guy is when those big fat, stinky, bearded men lay paws on him. Yeck.
