Diet plan smack down! Weight Watchers wins first round

Weight Watchers has temporarily smacked Valerie Bertinelli down.

The weight lost giant was granted a temporary restraining order in its lawsuit against rival Jenny Craig.

Jenny Craig is prohibited from broadcasting, publishing or disseminating claims of superiority over the Weight Watchers program, finding that such claims are not supportable, according to a Weight Watchers press release.

“We are extremely pleased with this outcome,” said David Kirchhoff, Weight Watchers President and Chief Executive Officer said in the release. “The swiftness and strength of the ruling supports our assertion that Jenny Craig is making false and unsupported advertising claims.”

Weight Watchers claims a Jenny Craig commercial starring Valerie Bertinelli is misleading and deceptive.

In other words, Weight Watchers says Jenny Craig is a big, fat liar.

Weight Watchers takes issue with statements about a study comparing Weight Watchers current weight-loss program and Jenny Craig’s pre-packaged meals system, according to the AP.

According to a court filing described by Bloomberg News, Bertinelli dons a lab coat and says the following referring to Weight Watchers:

“Jenny Craig clients lost, on average, over twice as much weight as those on the largest weight-loss program.”

The issue is that Jenny craig is a diet program. Weight Watchers is not a diet it is a change in lifestyle. You can eat whatever, not what they sell you. You are taught healthy eating an portion control. I love Weigh Watchers!

I agree with WW4ever. I’ve lost almost 70lbs. and managed to keep it off for a year due to the change in my eating habits and really paying attention to portions.

Congratulations to both WW4ever and WWRules on their successes; I have lost (over 10 months) and kept off (for 15 months) over 45 pounds with JEnny Craig. I am back to my high school weight (which is also my appropriate weight based on BMI and height/weight charts). Jenny Craig worked for me because it made the portion control easy in the beginning as I re-learned good habits, like the pre-packaged Weight Watchers food items do. The key for me is the portion control and exercise, which both programs emphasize. It is good that there are options so a person can find a program that works for them and fits their styles. I think I understand that Weight Watchers has more group support programs and Jenny has more individual support sessions; different people will respond to different formats. I don’t know a lot about WW, so if that is a bad description, I apologize. I jsut htink it is good that there are options for people to choose from.

I love to hear other people’s success stories! I lost 30 lbs (3 months) on the Smart for Life diet. I dropped from a size 10/12 to a size 2. It is just incredible. What I like about this diet is that it is so easy and much cheaper than Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. I found the best pricing here: www.getsfl.com. Good luck everyone!

I have tried both WW and Jenny Craig. Both worked for me for different reasons and different times in my life. Right now, I am using Jenny Craig. One of the misconceptions is that you always have to eat their food. Actually at your halfway, you start working in your own options to learn about choices, and by goal you are totally on your own. I personally needed the individual push, and my lifestyle is ‘tell me what to eat’. I have currently lost 35 pounds and almost to my goal. WW was good for a time in my life when I did cook a lot, and could benefit from group sessions of trying new things and others successes and struggles. It all depends on where you are in your stage of a life style change. I do think it is interesting.. the commercial didn’t say ‘WW’.. the presumption is WW.
