Area woman to vie for rose on “The Bachelor”

Emily Harkins, a 23-year-old fit model from West Chester, will vie for a hunk’s love this season on ABC’s “The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love.”

Harkins is one of two Ohio women on the show.

Alexa Mcallister,a 25-year-old entrepreneur from Galloway, also made the show. Both women now live in Columbus according to their profiles.

They will be among 25 women fighting for the affection of commercial airline pilot Jake Pavelka when the dating reality show airs on Jan. 4.

He will eliminate 10 women in the first rose ceremony, leaving 15 to compete for his affection.

In the premiere, the blonds battle the brunettes in a barefoot football game.

Here is what ABC says about the show in a press release:

“Jake, 31, a commercial airline pilot, meets 25 potential soul mates as he begins his exciting search for true love. In the premiere episode, “1401,” Jason prepares for the night of his life, as the 25 beautiful bachelorettes, who can think of nothing but him, begin to arrive.
Rozlyn, a stunning blonde model who isn’t afraid to make the first move, is the first out of the limo, and Jake is immediately smitten by her beauty. Vienna, a bold woman who makes no secret of her fondness for the handsome Bachelor, asks to touch his well-defined abs, while Ashleigh ends up literally falling into Jake’s arms.
As the party begins and Jake makes the rounds greeting the women, Ali, an adorable girl-next-door who is risking her future to win the Bachelor’s heart, confesses her fear of flying. Ashley, a tempting teacher, causes a ruckus by putting on a very revealing flight attendant’s uniform in her bid to get Jake’s attention and steals him away from the unsuspecting Ella, a single mom and hairstylist who is looking for a nice guy to complete her family. When Elizabeth from Nebraska, an athletic hottie who loves to play games, challenges Jake to a friendly game of touch football, blondes line up versus brunettes in a Bachelor first - a sexy, barefoot-in-eveningwear football scrimmage! The question remains… will Elizabeth win it all in the game of love?
Tensions mount and sparks fly when the “first impression” rose is brought out by Chris Harrison, and Jake makes his first decision much to the delight and surprise of one woman. For Michelle, who is one of Jake’s biggest fans and will stop at nothing to get her man, the pressure is too much and she breaks down in tears when she doesn’t get enough time with the Bachelor.”

Its amusing how much time people waste watching a fantasy relationship tv show, while their own relationships dwindle away. Wake up America, there is real life out here outside of “reality tv”

Narcissistic buffoon meets picks selects from a harem of scheming, gold-digging prostitutes. Hilarity ensues! Tonight on ABC.

“meets picks selects”? Maybe I’m dumb enough to watch this show. Note to self: don’t post before caffeine.

I think people are trying to learn something they can use in their own relationships. Isn’t that possible. We can all always learn something new.

Learn something? Yeah, I guess I have learned something. Falling in love with a gal that smiled at me was wrong…I should have had twenty five of them “compete”… Shoot, a true reality show would be something along the lines of “tongue-tied guy tries to engage painfully shy gal in conversation” 25 years of wedded bliss and 4 kids to follow…well, that’s my reality.

Oh, it’s stupid alright and yes Americans are stupid to watch it, but think about this. Wouldn’t everyone of us want the opportunity to possibly pick the person we would live with the rest of our lives? That being said, if this guy picks one, it is almost a guarantee that the marriage will be done for in 5 years. As the old saying goes, if you don’t like it, press the channel up/down button.

I always enjoy watching the “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” shows. I love seeing the places they visit and the fashion. I find it entertaining. I don’t watch it because I find anything “lacking” in my own marriage, au contrare si vous plais.

Its just fluff to watch, better than watching crime shows.

You guys need to lighten up. The people who watch this show don’t necessarily take it seriously. It’s entertainment to us, just as much as watching college sports.
