Earth’s revenge: Climate change goes after beer
Here’s a reason to worry about the environment: it seems climate change has one of nature’s most beloved creations in its sights and we aren’t talking about the polar bears this time.
According to GAWKER.com and New Scientist magazine, a Czech climatologist and his colleagues believe that beer may be in peril.
Slight overstatement, but Martin Mozny thinks that the flavor-giving acidity of Saaz hops, which are used to make several pilsners, has declined in recent years due to increased air temperature brought on by climate change.
Hop-growing regions of Germany and Slovakia are also in danger, according to an European Commission crop expert quoted in the New Scientist article.

Beer needs to be boiled for at least an hour. This makes beer very carbon heavy. It takes a lot of fuel to boil beer.
