Pachyderms best people in grueling bun eating contest

If for some reason you thought three people could eat hot dog buns faster than three elephants, you’d be very, very wrong.

Horribly incorrect!

The elephants took down the competitive eaters in a bun eating competition Saturday, July 3, sponsored by Major League Eating and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey.

In this, a devastating defeat to say the least, the pachyderms downed 505 Nathan Famous hot dog buns in six minutes. The humans brought shame to the species, eating only 143.

What failures.

See Associated press story here.

“They weren’t even focused,” the contest announcer says in the video above, accusing the elephants of being sort of patronizing.

To show off, at one point an elephant paused to eat a banana.

Organizers say the humans weighed about 500 pounds. The Asian elephants about 9 tons combined.

The elephants won this round, but I bet they couldn’t beat us in a car driving contest.

Humans can also fly planes better. Take that elephants.
