Old Navy’s flip-flops cause fights, frenzy

Discounted flip-flops caused some shoppers to lose their minds Saturday, May 23.

Old Navy stores for one day offered flip-flops for a $1, drawing large, discount-crazed crowds nationwide.

Police in Mishawaka, Ind. were called to break up fights at an Old Navy store there, according to the South Bend Tribune.

“It was insane, worse than the day after Thanksgiving,” shopper Renee Becker told that newspaper after buying 20 pairs of flip flops.

“You couldn’t move as the doors opened,” Becker said. “If the manager hadn’t jumped out of the way she would have been trampled.”

The Old Navy at Easton Town Center was among those swamp, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

“It was mass running for flip-flops,” said store manager Debbie Cartnal told the newspaper. “We had to slow them down. We were saying, ‘Nobody get hurt. There’s plenty of flip-flops.’”

I was there for the flip flops. I am the biggest flip flopper in the history of politics. Had America elected me four years ago, we wouldn’t be in this colossal mess.

John, did you vote for the black ones before you voted against them? Also, do you like ketchup?

I went to the Old Navy in Beavercreek in hopes of getting in on the excellent flip flop offer, but when I got there and saw how ridiculous the traffic was and the fact the store was so full of people it was practically busting at the seams, I decided not to.

This is just stupid. Fighting over flip-flops? You can go to Dollar Tree and get a pair for $1 any day of the week. Morons.

If you get into a fistfight at Old Navy over dollar flip flops…you might be a Redneck. Seriously, anyone stupid enough to do this should be forced to have it carved on their tombstone. “Here lies Joe Blow. Back in ‘09 he put up his dukes over a pair of six cent plastic shoes made in Uraguay. Don’t bother leaving flowers.”

well, there were no flip flops when i arrived at the bridgewater falls old navy store. shoppers were told they sold out in less than a hour. knowing that they are a summer staple item why didn’t old navy anticipate the mad rush and have plenty on hand? they knew last fall when they had $6 jeans what a frenzy it was and should have been prepared. don’t think i’ll waste my time trying to get such a deal at old navy again. it’s not worth being there when the doors open and getting trampled!!

I went to bridgewater falls for the flip flop sale, and I also waited in line for about 20 minutes before the store opened. I didn’t see any problems between any shoppers. There was lots of team work goin on, everyone helped each other get what they needed, like take one down & pass the rest around. I had fun…Thanks Old Navy

Greedy idiots like these and the ones that go nuts at Thanksgiving ought to be ashamed of themselves.

My husband and daughters went to the Old Navy at the Dayton Mall. Got there around 9:30am and the line was crazy….but they got right in and got what my girls needed. I went around 11am and had no problem either. It was fun and nice to see everyone out spending money even though they were only a $1 per pr.

I don’t understand the fascination with flip-flops. It’s been proven that wearing them on a regular basis is bad for your feet. They’re really only good for wearing around the house or at the beach.

I ordered my flip flops from home. They cost me $2.50 each. I didn’t risk my life, spend my gas, or deal with crazy people.
