Government: pistachios scary

Pistachios, yes evil pistachios, are the latest nuts trying to kill us.

OK, that’s an overstatement, but Food and Drug Administration officials have warned consumers to stop eating foods containing the strange looking nut.

California-based Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc., the nation’s second-largest pistachio processor, will voluntarily recalling more than 2 million pounds of its roasted nuts shipped since last fall.

The FDA learned about the problem Tuesday, March, 24, when Kraft Foods Inc. notified the agency that routine product testing had detected salmonella in roasted pistachios. Kraft and the Georgia Nut Co. recalled their Back to Nature Nantucket Blend trail mix the next day.
