Owner of rampaging “Old Navy” chimp: “I had to stab him”
Sandra Herold in an interview that aired on the Today Show Wednesday, Feb. 18, said she had to stab her pet chimp Travis Monday.
The 200-pound animal viciously attacked 55-year-old Charla Nash in Stamford, Conn.
Herold said Travis was tearing Nash apart.
In the interview (see it below) she told how she whacked Travis with a shovel and stabbed him with butcher knife as he attacked Nash.
Herold said she gave the chimp the anti-anxiety drug Xanax shortly before the attack, but didn’t think that was a factor.

Herold said she loved the chimpanzee and thought of him as a child.
Travis, who was killed by police, often lived a high life, dinning on lobster tail and filet mignon.
The veteran animal actor appeared in TV commercials for Old Navy and Coca-Cola.
“I’ll miss him for the rest of my life,” Herold said in the Today Show interview.
What do you think? What would you do if your pet attacked someone?

Human life trumps animal life. If you have a wild animal you must be prepared at any time to face the consequences. You can’t coddle a wild animal and even a domesticated animal still has instincts. You can’t change their nature.By Joann

She was very brave in her actions and I am thankful that she saw her friends life as more valuable than her pet. It is crucial that we always protect life over our pets.
