Is predicted 9 inches of snow a big deal?
The National Weather Service says the current winter storm due to continue through Wednesday, Jan. 28, may produce up to 9 inches of snow on the ground.
Doesn’t seem all that bad to me.
Granted, I am from Cleveland and as a child, shoveled snow with my face during the uphill walk to school.
A snow storm last March produced a record 16 inches in the Miami Valley, according to the National Weather Service in Wilimington.
But neither the Miami Valley’s current snowstorm nor the one last march touches the nation’s biggest snow days.
Georgetown, Colo. In 1913 set the 63-inch record for daily snowfall, according to the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Climatic Data Center.
Thompson Pass, Ark. recorded the greatest two-day snowfall, 120.6 inches in 1955.
