Is it pop, soda or soda pop? Turns out it was an ad

A giant Pepsi billboard at Seventh and Fashion avenues in New York’s Manhattan reads “Pop Pop Pop.”

But it turned out not to be vindication for those who call carbonated soft drinks ‘pop’ instead of ‘soda pop’ or ‘soda.’

Pepsi is riding the Obama “change” train and the sign is an ad.

The giant sign is part of Pepsi’s Refresh Everything Campaign which invites people to offer “Dear Mr. President” video messages to President Obama.

Before he took the oath as president, Pepsi referred to Obama as the “man who was about to refresh the nation.”

The campaign ads first seen in Washington D.C., New York and other cities before Obama’s recent inauguration features a re-designed Pepsi logo similar to the trademark Obama “O” campaign logo.

The ad campaign features several single words and phrases, including “Joy,” “Yo,” “Optimism,” “Hope,” “Yes You Can,” “Change” and “One for All.”

There is even a sign in a Washington subway that reads “Soda Pop.”

What do you think of the ad campaign? And is a Pepsi a soda, pop, soda pop or coke? Comment below.

I grew up in south central KY calling it soda. My daughter was born in Columbus, IN and she and her friends there and here in Troy, OH have always called pop. My husband’s from Cleveland and he calls it pop. Must be a regional thing, but since I’m the mom, as far as I’m concerned, it’s SODA!!
