Project Runway 4 Fashion Week Season Finale

While season four wasn’t filled with the drama we’ve come to expect with Project Runway the designers may have been the most talented of any of the seasons to-date. (I’m writing this as I’m watching so it might ramble a bit).

Showing their wares at this year’s fashion week were Rami, Jillian and Christian.

Tim’s workroom comments appear to have given the to Rami… so we’ll just have to wait a little long to see who wins this season.

As the show continues, Christian appears to have lost his fierce edge and Jillian is managing to work my last Project Runway nerve like a unraveling seam.

Tim Gunn gave the designers a warm and Tim-like send off as they make their way to Bryant Park.

As the show gets underway - this Project Runway minions aka dressers come out of nowhere… who are they? why didn’t they use the loser from the season.

Let’s start the show. (imagine if you will - I have a set of Project Runway Judge cards and am writing a one word response to each design).

Jillian’s work was sent down the runway first. Milan - Euro-sheik - Wonderwoman - OMG what was that one - Mop - mmm - clubbing - esacapee - packing tape got loose - loved it - wow that was a pant suite - overall nice collection - very tailored. excatly what you would have expected to see from Jillian.

Up next, Rami. Boring, s , New York, ugh, China, Nice, layered (oh those pants), chilly, quiltyl OMG, Outstanding, wow (can she walk in that?) I’m under whelmed.

Finally, Christian. Fierce, Euro-trendy, WOW, sleek, sexy, These girls can walk - how can she see? - wearable, Robin Hood, Furry, marsh mellow, feather duster. Very Christian.

After the show. here are a few of the comments from the audience. Jay loved Rami. Padma loved Jillians - Nick Verreos loved Rami’s work.

The judges including Victoria Beckham debated. So, who will the judges pick? The designers seem more nervous than in the other seasons.

The viewers picked Christian… And the Judges picked - Christian and I think they got it right this season!

Gen, Since Bryant Park takes place before the top 3 are determined, spoilers would get out immediately if only the top 3 showed. So, in order to keep those top 3 a secret, whoever is left in the competition according to the TV shows at Bryant Park. The top 3 are the only ones whose collections see Bravo airtime, though. I personally liked Rami’s collection the best, with the exquisite looks and intricate attention to detail. I thought Christian’s was too monotonous. Still, I can’t say his win was undeserved. Did I think he deserved it the most? No, probably not, but I’m not upset. All 3 had very nice collections.

I have a question: yesterday, there was a slideshow on DDN of the designers and their collections at fashion week. Sweet P and Chris DID show at Bryant Park! I want to know what’s up with this! The show totally didn’t allude to that. Perhaps they weren’t eligible to win the contest, but part of the prize is showing at Bryant Park. I am a PR freak and have watched it from Season 1, but I’m very confused and a little irritated by this. Did anyone else see the sideshow? I am, however, completely pleased that Christian won. He is a true talent, innovator, and clearly he’s found what he was meant to do.

I think they got it right, too. Before season 4 began, I thought I would hate Christian from the promos (his crazy hair, his declaration that he’s ‘kind of a big deal’). But as the season went on, it became apparent that he really is a big deal. His clothes were always fierce and I think he won 2-3 challenges, which is a lot for one person when it comes to Project Runway. His personality comes off a little to cocky sometimes but so what? He has the personality and talent of a fashion designer and he deserved to win Project Runway. I just wish Chris could have gotten to compete instead of that loser Rami. I can’t believe Jillian got third place to HIM. Her collection was much better than his. Oh well.

I thought it was one of the best seasons ever. It didn’t have some of the big dramas of past seasons, but the talent was exceptional I thought. I was so excited to see the conclusion, but now I am so depressed that it’s over! I wish they would make shows of the auditions too like they do on American Idol! I have loved Christian all along and I’m so excited that he won. It is amazing to think that he has SO much talent at such a young age - can’t wait to see what he does! And his sewing skills are fierce! I was very inspired by this season - I even got out the sewing machine and created a mid-winter dress for my daughter’s high school dance and she loved it. And if that snow holds off enough - I will get to see my “Glinda the Good Witch” creation on stage tomorrow night in the Troy High play -ha!
