America gets 10 of ‘American Idol’s’ Top 12 right

Welcome back Bo. I thought he looked great; lost a couple pounds maybe? Just like Carrie Underwood the other night he oozed a confidence and poise that must come with “stardom. That said, if he were still competing I don’t think he would have gotten my vote tonight. He sang his own Top 40 song off key. Maybe that’s just a live performance thing, but don’t you think Idols should be able to do that?

Before we begin, can you imagine what the contestants feel like sitting on that stage? The dream could be just beginning or about to come to an end. They are probably glad the lights are dim so the audience cannot see their hearts jumping out of their chests. They are praying Seacrest won’t ask them a stupid question because they might freeze up or choke on their own spit. I imagine there is no adrenaline rush like it.

Well here we go to the contestants leaving…I have never been a Kinnik Sky fan so I’m not disappointed or surprised that’s she’s leaving. She did exhibit a lot of class though. Being a very spiritual person, I’ll bet she would make some church an amazing music director or praise and worship leader.

Oh, I was afraid Will Makar was going to be gone this week. He was my Anthony Federov of this season and I was really looking forward to seeing his growth throughout the season and eventually on the Idol tour this summer. Bummer. Good Luck Will!

I felt bad for Ayla Brown, but not too bad. Never liked her. Can you imagine having to sing right after loosing? That is cruel and unusual punishment. Halleluiah Melissa stays!

What a confident young man Geddeon McKinney is. Odd and a little touched. I see him joining Kinnik in church as a young Bishop T.D Jakes singing and preaching to the masses.

So, how did I do on my Top 12 predictions? I got 7 out of 12. Katharine McPhee, Mandisa, Paris Bennett, Kellie Pickler, Ace Young, Chris Daughtry, & Taylor Hicks. Over the last few weeks I’m happy I discovered Elliot Yamin, Melissa McGhee and Lisa Tucker. I would have never imagined either Kevin Covais or Bucky Covington being here.

Top 6 predictions? Come on people; don’t make me do this alone. I know there are vastly differing opinions out there on a couple folks. Kellie, Ace, Bucky, Kevin.

My Top 6: Katharine McPhee, Ace Young, Chris Daughtry, Taylor Hicks, Elliot Yamin & Paris Bennett.

Okay folks, it would not be my blog without mentioning Ace. Did you him comforting little Paris while Geddeon was singing his goodbye? How sensitive and sweet and what a gentleman. Sigh…

Prepare for a shameless plug: The new reality show UNAN1MOUS is starting on March 22. Hopefully you saw the commercials during tonight’s show. Come join the blog with me and let’s peek into what is sure to be an interesting observation into the best and worst of human nature. Can you imagine? Locked in a bunker until nine strangers decide whether or not to give you 1.5 million dollars or try to get it for themselves. Should be intriguing.

And finally, who for the love of God let the Brittenumm twins in?

Ok so I love Bucky Covington, Kellie Pickler, I also love Paris Bennet. I don’t know why people like Taylor so much. I HATE him! He can go home but I don’t see why they don’t like Bucky. Anyway that’s my opinion out of 1 million so I can only hope!

I’ve been staying on the sidelines of the Kellie/Kevin conversations for long enough. To continue to vote for these two because they are cute and sweet and deserve a chance is wrong. Do they have the strongest voices? If you honestly think so, speed dial their numbers ‘til your hearts content. But to vote for them just because they are cute is as bad as not voting for Mandisa because she’s heavy or Elliot because he’s got bad teeth or Bucky because he’s a hillbilly or Taylor because he is gray and dances funny. Vote star quality, vote performance, vote voice but don’t vote appearance. There are plenty of those in Hollywood already. Can’t we prove to the music executives that all we really care about is talent? That we’ll buy the record of an Elliot Yamin? Don’t vote cuteness, or vote against ugliness. Maybe we’ll be lucky and really get the best American Idol. Now stepping off my soap box.

Here are my top 6 Katharine, Chris, Taylor, Mandisa, Elliott, and (believe it or not) Melissa - Ace has been fading too much for me, and I don’t like Paris either. She’s nowhere near living up to her potential. Bo is amazing, but his performance last night was awful. He’s lost weight because he’s been sick with a gastrointestinal bug that they haven’t been able to figure out. Hope he gets better soon!

Long time reader, first time poster…just have to say I love Bo Bice. I was a fan from last season but after last night I find myself developing a major crush on him (even though he was a little off key…he is just hot), as my fiancĂ© rolls his eyes and says Bo is too “Top 40”. But I say that’s what it takes to be an American Idol. With that said, this is a good season. My top 6 fav picks are Taylor (all the way) Chris, Elliott, Paris, Lisa and Katharine. They all just seem so natural and down to Earth. I knew Kinnik was going to be gone so that wasn’t a surprise (she has been in the lowest vote bracket for the last few weeks) but I did like her personality. I was surprised that Ayla went before Melissa. I am not a fan of either but I thought Ayla was a better singer. As for the guys, I like Kevin because he is just such a sweet guy…and I have always been a sucker for the underdog. However, I didn’t vote for him on Wednesday. It was a shock to me when he made it into the top 12…I like him, but I don’t think he is the next American Idol. I do think it’s cool that he made it though. I think it shows that America isn’t as shallow as I thought. I like Bucky too and I did vote for him, for the same reasons that I like Kevin, and I like how he makes every song his own but, I think Gedeon is a better singer than both of them put together and I was shocked that America sent him packing over Kevin. I feel like it was his cocky attitude that did him in. I felt bad for Will but he wasn’t the best singer and I figured he would be gone. So I had some surprises last night and I am definitely looking forward to seeing how this all plays out. I know some of you won’t like this but I have to say it. I am not a fan of Kellie. There is just something about her. I feel like she plays the “Poor Meâ€? card and the “Dumb Blondâ€? card too much. Is it her gimmick or is she really that naĂŻve? I am also not a fan of Ace. He seems very full of himself, he seems too gimmicky, and he really isn’t that good of a singer. He’s getting by on his looks and he knows it…it shows in the way he makes those little cutesy faces. None of these characteristics are attractive to me. I won’t be sad when Kellie and Ace go.

Bo Bice. He looked great and he was my pick for Idol last season. That song choice, however, is not great to me. He needs new management or he’ll sink into oblivion. Give this man some Skynard to sing! Last night held few surprises but WHAT IS KEVIN DOING in the top 12? He’s got no moves, no charisma, and he’s painful to watch. Please send him home America! Buckster - time for you to hit the bricks too. I have to wonder, do they keep the poor singers around for Simon to humiliate? Mandi, Chris, Ace and Elliott - show us how it’s done!

Hear, hear, Heather! I think my daughter summed it up well when she looked at me glumly and said, “American sucks.” LOL! Meant in a very patriotric, only in their choice of American Idols kind of way of course!

It was completely ridiculous that Kevin and Bucky made Top 12 while Geddeon and Will didn’t! I’ve never been that in to Geddeon, but he’s a much better vocalist than Kevin or Bucky! Oh well I guess… I was happy to see Kinnik and Ayla leave, although I felt badly for Ayla. Did anyone else notice how Ace gives full on hugs to the other guys, rather than the usual guy slap-on-the-back hug? I love that! He’s so hot… And Chris looked as hot as ever. My top 6 - Chris, Ace, Taylor, Katherine, Kellie, Elliott.

STEAM!STEAM!STEAM! That is what has been exuding from my ears ever since the show last night. America, are you on crack???? Or are you just stupid, like I originally thought? You kept Bucky and KEVIN!!!!! I’m just dumbfounded….I don’t get it. Of course, much of the blame needs to go to the judges because they let them get this far in the first place. So, America was given the choice to choose between talent and a lisp and his redneck friend. What a sad choice! Then there are the girls. I wasn’t sad to see Kinnik go, but she was impressive at the end with her composure. And poor Ayla, I felt so bad for her. This is probably the first thing she has ever not “succeeded” at - even though she should be very proud to have made it this far. I have liked her from the beginning - and I know many others haven’t. Like Simon said - it wasn’t her, it was her song. I was very torn on who I thought should go second. I really thought it would be Melissa - even though I like her too - I just didn’t think she would have the fan base that the others probably do. If she wants to make it, she needs to open up that personality! Ok, my Top 6 predictions: Chris, Elliott, Mandisa, Lisa, Ace and Katharine.

Well, tonight justice was done, halfway. Kinnik and Ayla were the right two girls to go. I can’t believe that Will and Gedeon are gone while Bucky and Kevin made the Top 12! I mean, come on, BUCKY? Not an Idol Fan must have really been working that speed dial… My Top 6 - Chris, Ace, Katharine, Mandisa, Elliott, and (ugh) Kellie. Stevie Wonder night coming next week - I wonder what Chris will sing?

Sigh…initial impressions - sad to see Will go - but can’t say I was surprised - I was afraid of that. I repeat - WHY is Kevin still on this show????? What a JOKE! Top 6? It is tough - this is a very close group I think. But I’m going to guess: Ace, Katharine, Taylor, Chris, Mandisa and Paris - so far we agree…but I’m not sure that Elliot will get slot #6 - I see that one as more up for grabs. Could be him, or (gag) Kellie, or Lisa. It’s really tough - it just depends on how the next few weeks go!
