Chicken Little stays on ‘American Idol’ while talent slips away.
Oh what a difference a year makes. Carrie Underwood exuded the kind of star quality I suspect the creators of this show were shooting for. Not since Kelly Clarkson has a winner fulfilled my expectations as much as Carrie. I am not a huge country music fan but I’ve been diggin’ her CD and am particularly fond of Jesus Take the Wheel and Before he Cheats.
The girls voted off were predictable. Heather Cox & Brenna Gethers. Kinnik better pull out all the stops or she’s gone next week.
Oh boys. Kevin Covais and David Radford were a given for me. However, David must have been a pretty nice kid for the other finalists to come out on stage with him. I’ve never seen that before and I must admit I got a bit misty. In regards to the Sway Penala/Kevin Covais stand off, I’m so disappointed. Sway wasn’t always my favorite but Kevin wouldn’t even win a role in the junior high musical. Please tell me that this wasn’t a race thing. Please.
Fashion alert! Mandisa, girlfriend, you could not have chosen a more unflattering outfit. Each and every person who told you that you looked nice in the black spaghetti strap number with the hem cut at the widest part of your thighs should be shot. I can respect and appreciate the fact that you don’t really care what others think as long as you feel good about yourself, but I wouldn’t want to be present when you watch the show back.
The judges really disappointed me tonight. No class and inconsiderate. Their behavior was in very poor taste and by the way was Paula Abdul drunk?
So now we wait. This four day stretch without Idol kills me! Maybe I’ll find time to spend with my husband. Poor guy has become an Idol widower three days a week. Then again, I learned to love football so honey can’t you try to at least tolerate Idol? For me?
PS - I warn you, if you haven’t already figured it out, you will probably get sick of hearing about Ace this season. But is that nervous, wide eyed vulnerable look just too hot? Girls…back me up on this. And how about those curls?

I’m almost ashamed to admit I’m shallow enough to fawn over Ace but the truth is I am and I do. He will not win, Elliot Yamin will. But if Ace would clean up a bit I’ll bet he could land a modeling contract. He needs to throw away the t-shirts that have obviously seen a few too many car washes and flag football games. The hair needs to go. Can you imagine how hot he would be without that mop falling over that incredible bone structure? He still wouldn’t win, but he would be large on billboards and in magazines for Abercrombie or Jockey. Oh yeah!

Chris, Chris, Chris, and Chris!!!! I have thought he was the best since the auditions, and he continues to amaze me! My daughters and I call him “MinVin” (he is a dead ringer for Vin Diesel!) He is by far the most talented, followed closely by Elliot. I am sorry, but Ace sounded terrible to me this week! He may be cute, but his voice is nowhere near as awesome as Chris. I honestly don’t care much about the girls, but I would be pulling for Kelly Pickler to make the finals.

Heather and Brenna were the right girls to go this week. For my ears, there are so few guys worthy of staying around that — except for Chris — it really didn’t matter to me who got voted off last night! Yes, Kevin needs to leave very soon (the reason he’s stuck around is because the 11-year-old girls will text-message votes for his cutie-pie-ness till their thumbs bleed). But several other guys are on the list of ones who need to leave soon, including the boring Will, and Taylor, and then Bucky. Sorry, but that’s how I hear it. Your mileage may vary. :)

Finally, there is another logical person out there willing to help me set Kelle straight. Jodi, we think alike. I think Kelle’s drool over Ace gets in her ears when Bucky sings. He will be around a little longer, but a girl will win this one. There is just more talent amongst the estrogen.

Jodi - I agree with you about Chris - I think he may just win it this year! But, Bucky??? Come on! If he makes it to the top 12, I would be highly surprised - and disgusted!

ok guys, here goes…I agree with everyone who was voted out. Sorry Kelle, you are completely underestimate Bucky. You have got appreciate real country music…Kelle, you like some modern country…not old school. Although, that being said…He is not my favorite nor is he the best, but he’ll be around a few more weeks. My favorite this week/ guys and girs/ Chris Daughtry…he honestly makes me swoon way more than ACE. My husband thinks he has that Vin Diesel thing going on. I really enjoyed Kelli Pickler and Mandisa. I pick Chris to be American Idol this year…either way…he can be my idol anytime:)

I have to tell you - I jumped off the couch and whooped a “hell yeah” when Brenna was sent home. I swear if that girl smacked her butt one more time I was going to hurl. There’s no room for that kind of self promotion on this show. As far as who I think will make it to the finals, Katharine and Chris. Chris just blows me away with his vocals (just like Bo did)and the rock and roll side of me wants to see him on stage someday. I’m with you Kelle, I think Ace is probably the most gorgeous man on earth. I don’t think his vocals will carry him to the end, but I love watching him every week. It’s going to be a fun ride.

Last night definitely had it’s ups and downs for me. America got it right on when it came to kicking off Brenna (THANK YOU!!), Heather and David. But, Sway? America - you’re just plain dumb for that decision. To keep little mousey Kevin around was just a pity vote in my opinion. They see this geeky little kid with a sort of okay voice (not Idol material in the least though) and want to see him make it. I don’t understand it at all. Sway could sing and had pretty good stage presence. I don’t think he would have made it all the way, but I really thought he’d be in the top 12. I don’t think his going was racial - it was strictly a case of the underdog getting the votes. Crazy! As far as the judges - Kelle, I was asking myself if Paula was drunk too. I really think she was! If not, she was just very insensitive. Hopefully next week will be better. I’m looking for a few to really stand out, unlike this week. To go, I think will be Kevin and Bucky - I’m hoping anyway - and Kinnick and probably Melissa. Although I like Melissa’s sound - I don’t think she has the fan base that the others do.

Unfortunately, there is still a large portion of our society that still remains ignorant about some cultures. I could be wrong, but I don’t remember an Asian-American ever being in the top 24 on Idol before and I had an icky thought when I saw Sway standing next to Kevin that ignorance had won out. Sway obviously has much more talent. Then again, it may be nothing more than the Kevin “adorable factor, which would make me much happier.

Looking at the racial make-up of the contestants still remaining, I find it hard to understand your comment about Sway’s dismissal being racial. Why even go there? So not cool. Having said that, I too share your dismay that Sway left. His departure number smacked so much of Stevie Wonder it was scarey. He certainly could have grown on this show and really given them all a run for their money.

Bucky lives!!! He might not be the best. But, obviously, he wasn’t one of the worst. PS-Ace needs to cut his hair.

I was really sad about David getting the boot. Not surprised, but sad - I did shed some tears on that one. Sway being pushed out before Kevin was ridiculous though… He better go next week! I am SO glad Brenna and Heather are gone! I definately think Kinnik will be next week. There is no way Pickler is gone next week - I think she’s going to be staying in a while, and I’m glad :) She brings some sunshine to the competition - I love her happy attitute! I really loved that most of the guys were acting humble when Ryan asked them if they thought they were in the bottom 3 or not. I’m glad that most had enough sense to not act cocky - except for Gedeon of course… I’m still gunning for him to get kicked out next week!

A virtual high five going out to you, Leslie! We seem to think alike. And I think you may be right about Kevin - he has every underdog out there voting for him! It will start getting much harder to predict from here on out. Is it Tuesday yet???? tee hee…

Let’s talk about the guys first. I was a little shocked at Sway’s departure, but I suspect that Kevin Covais has a larger fan base, and that saved him… …at least for this week. No surprises with the girls’ vote tonight. It was time for Heather, and past time for Brenna, to go. Next week it will be Kinnik and…I have no idea. Although I have definite favorites among the girls (Lisa and Paris), I really like all of them. I predict it will be Melissa McGhee that leaves with Kinnik next week, but sorry, it SHOULD be Kellie Pickler.

David certainly does seem to have fans amongst his fellow former Idol contestants! He is an adorable kid, and seems very sweet - regretably he just isn’t a good singer - I wish he were. The bottom there were pretty much givens for me, but I really thought that Kevin would go before Sway. I have just never gotten into Sway - not sure why - he just doesn’t have “it” for me - though I did enjoy his performance last week - but not this week. There much be lots of little old ladies calling in voting for Kevin is all I can figure - he can’t last much longer. I look forward to seeing what goes down next week. And yes - Ace is totally hot! :) No surprises with the girls - thrilled to see Brenna go. You know I want to see Kellie out (thanks for the support, Laura!), but I realize that the hormones of teenage boys will keep her afloat for awhile at the very least. I was much happier with the look that Paris chose for tonight, but yeah - Mandisa found a wardrobe choice that was even worse than the cruise ship bar dress - mercy sakes. I think that Kinnick and Kevin will go next week.
