Recruiting ‘process just starting’ for Fairfield football
Now with its successful 6-4 season behind it, Fairfield High’s football team has turned its attention to 2010 and recruiting.
Coaches from Central State were in today, Nov. 10, and other schools, such as the College of Mount St. Joseph, will be visiting in the coming weeks. The University of Cincinnati stopped by three weeks ago, particularly to check in with senior safety Arryn Chenault, a UC recruit.
“The process is just starting,” Tribe coach Aaron Fitzstephens said. “In the next week or two, it will start picking up.”
Other seniors who are expected to draw interest are: DL Russell Turner, LB Tyler Snell, QB Justin McCray, DB Josh Scott, WR C.J. Tally and TE Nick Kaminsky.
Anywhere between 10 to 12 starters will be back for the 2010 season, which gets underway with weight lifting sessions on Dec. 2.
“It’s really exciting,” Fitzstephens said. “There’s a lot of energy in the program. We got the coaches in place and the talent in Fairfield. We want to make this a special football program. We have the banquet (Wednesday) night, and we’ll acknowledge the senior class (of 27). They laid the foundation for the future.”
