Screening committee recommends Coley for Senate seat
A screening committee has recommended Rep. Bill Coley, R-Liberty Twp., to fill the 4th District state Senate seat, Senate President Tom Niehaus, R-New Richmond, said Thursday in a press release.
The full Republican caucus is expected to go along with the pick and the new member is to be sworn in next Tuesday, May 24, said Niehaus.
The district includes all of Butler County.
“He understands the issues facing Butler County and the rest of the state,” said Niehaus. “And he’s not afraid to make the tough decisions to get Ohio back on a path to economic growth.”
Coley, 50, is serving his fourth term in the House. There were four other Republican candidates: state Rep. Tim Derickson of Oxford; Mark Haverkos of West Chester; Stuart Locke of Middletown and Michael McCabe of Fairfield Township.
The vacancy was created by the resignation of Sen. Gary Cates, R-West Chester, who is taking a job as senior vice chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents.

Coley is only known for his booze and golf fundraisers. Other than that the only legislation he’s authored put the check cashing guys out of business while protecting his banking lobbyist that collect 29% interest and $30 overdrafts.

To the comment from Robert- You obviously have no real Bible knowledge or you would know the importance of standing with Israel. It would be a major eye opener if you would study your Bible and find a church that teaches reality. Israel is the most important country in the East. Obama does not have guts. He has support in his blood for the Muslim cult.

Its about time that a US President had the guts to hold Israel accountable. I certainly don’t want my tax dollars supporting a non-democratic theocracy.

The headlines should read, “Obama’s ship sinks!” I mean his Presidential status, of course. He has to go in 2012. He has no decency telling Israel to give up so much land they will have no defense. There is much about Obama the public does not yet know. It is not a good thing. About Coley, may the best person win. Preferably conservative.

The first three comments were most likely written by Bill or his wife while she was passing out candy at the GOP meeting in complete disrespect of the chairman trying to hold a meeting.

I like Coley and wish him well. Obama has got these newspaper sites to where we can’t spar and share opinions because of this FCC control and the net neutrality. It is censorship and I want Obama out of office. Obama does not represent the American people when he betrays Israel telling them to go back to old land arrangements! Maybe Obama would like to join the Palestinians when he leaves the White House in 2012!

I think Coley will work out well! It is good with me to see him receive support. I am ticked about this Obama Israel thing! Israel is God’s Country and the Jews have been walked on enough! I don’t want those Muslims taking over our Holy Land. I can’t believe Obama. If we can survive until 2012 we can vote him out!

If the screening committee supports Coley, then I am O.K. with that. What I am fighting mad about is the fact that our President is telling Israel they should go back to the land agreements of years ago and release land to the Palestinians! First, Obama has no right to say that! I still believe my instinct that Obama is an underground Muslim! Obama does not represent me or a great percentage of Americans when he is down on Israel. Oh Israel, please know that we are not happy with our President and want him out of office come 2012!
