Poll: Ohio voters favor Arizona-type immigration law
Fifty-nine percent of Ohio likely voters favored an immigration law like the one adopted in Arizona, according to a Rasmussen Reports survey released on Friday, May 7.
The poll found that 32 percent of likely voters opposed such a law, which permits local police to stop and check immigration status when they suspect people of being illegal immigrants.
The survey also found that 62 percent of those favoring such a law back Republican John Kasich, the former Columbus-area U.S. House member, for governor. Incumbent Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland got the support from 74 percent of those who oppose such a law.
The poll was taken on Wednesday, May 5, with 500 likely voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percent.

I have one quick solution to the Arizona “problem”. Round all non-citizens without proper papers and take all of them to Washington DC. Make the trip one way. Then Washington will find a solution and quit sitting on your butts in hopes the “problem” will go away.

Until EMPLOYERS are jailed and until the entire 360 degree border is secure, then the redneck chanting “deport them all” is just “blah, blah, blah. It cannot be done one person at a time, use some common sense people.

Great information Gary. You are the man.If illegal immigrants do not have to obey the law ,I should not have to pay my taxes. If the law does not apply to them it does not apply to me.Where is sixty minutes when you need them?

From a California school teacher - - - “As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of: I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools. Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I’m not talking a glass of milk and roll — but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America .. I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students, here in the country less then 3 months, who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them “Putas”(whores) and throwing things, that the teachers were in tears. Free medical, free education, free food, free day care etc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements? To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs. Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases. For me, I’ll pay more for tomatoes. Americans, We need to wake up. It does, however, have everything to do with culture: It involves an American third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about”political correctness” that we don’t have the will to do anything about it. If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know. CHEAP LABOR? Isn’t that what the whole immigration issue is about? Business doesn’t want to pay a decent wage. Consumers don’t want expensive produce. Government will tell you Americans don’t want the jobs. But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase “cheap labor” is a myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as “cheap labor.” Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an “earned income credit” of up to $3,200 free. He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent. He qualifies for food stamps. He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care. His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school. He requires bilingual teachers and books. He qualifies for relief from high energy bills. If they are, or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. If qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicaid. All of this is at (our) taxpayer’s expense. He doesn’t worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance. Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material. He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits. Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6..00/hour left after paying their bills and his. Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE CONGRESSIONAL MEMBERS OF EITHER PARTY. ‘AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON’T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM . Please pass this on to as many as possible. Immigration legislation is to be considered in 2010. This is important to working Americans, our economy and our American culture and heritage..

The argument about this causing profiling is as stupid as saying the seatbelt law causes profiling. Read People!! The police must have already stopped the person for a legitimate reason. You have to have your DL on you when you drive, and if you are not a US citizen (here legally), you have to have your documentation 100% of the time. Want to live here? More power to you brother, come share my dream. However, like my ancestors, do it legally. Obey our laws, learn our language and pull your weight. I lived in Spain when I was a child, I had to keep my passport with me (at 10 years old) and learn to speak spanish. If I or my siblings messed up major, my family would have been deported imediamente! Open borders in light of the terrorist activities of the last decade are fundamentally wrong. We teach our children not to let strangers in our house, why don’t we keep a such eye on our National doorways?

The Justice dept. had a report that said one in five teens in phoenix was on Drugs brought in from mexico, and that every 35 hours someone was Kidnapped, when Nancy Pelosi Was asked about the drug survey , she said it was cheaper to treat the drug abuser than secure the border, I suppose Nancy it is cheaper to pay the Ransom than secure the border, It’s on youtube, that will make a Great Campaign AD for her opponet

$11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to ILLEGAL aliens each year by state governments. $90 billion a year is spent on ILLEGAL aliens for Welfare and social services by the American taxpayer. The ILLEGAL aliens in the United States have a crime rate that’s two and a half times that of white non-ILLEGAL aliens. $200 billion a year in suppressed American wages are caused by ILLEGAL aliens.

Whoa…lighten up scoobydo and get a grip. Things aren’t all that bad…the USA isn’t going to fall apart because the folks you don’t agree with seem to be doing something you don’t like. Things will work out. Don’t set yourself on a course to stroke out any sooner than necessary. Ditto for n8r.

you lemmings better wake up cause soon enough you will have no rights… if you are not doing wrong and have your paper work then there should not be a problem becuase after all when I get pulled over I have to show my documents (drivers licence)… If I went to any other country I would have to do it the right way. you bleeding heart liberials really need to wake up cause there is not going to be much of a country left if you keep letting these people here to not pay taxes, suck our healthcare system dry, drain social security, and throw off the balance of industry by sending the money they make here back to the homeland. the point is illegal is illegal.. so you have no rights unless you do it the proper way..

Rasmussen Reports, crap you might as well just make up the results yourself. Only people that use and quote this biased poll company are cluster Fixed News, Rightwing Nuts, and Teapots. You Teapots/GOP/Rightwingers keep pushing this unconstitutional law and see how far down a black hole this leads the misguided shrinking old white boys’ party of Hell No. When some Fixed News people and Joe Scarborough are completely against it, you are on very shaky ground. Where are your papers? This is why the GOP has lost the last 2 national elections, the country is not an extreme rightwing majority, they are of a minority and still hemorrhaging.

Rasmussen Reports is known nation wide for the misinterpretation of their own results. Their polls and surveys are poorly constructed. Just be careful about how much faith you put into this information. As to the issue, I think Arizona has gone too far. It has created complications far and wide that will affect business dealings with the state.
