Casino counties provide strong support for Issue 3

Issue 3 was winning by big margins in three of the four counties that would get casinos under the proposal in results posted by Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner about 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Here are the results:

Cuyahoga County Cleveland, winning, 68-32 percent

Hamilton County, Cincinnati, winning, 70-30 percent

Lucas County, Toledo, winning, 59-41 percent

Results were not posted for Franklin County, which includes Columbus.

Statewide, the issue was winning, 60-40 percent, with more than 12 percent of precincts reporting.

The plan would permit casinos in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Toledo.

Voters have rejected gambling plans four times since 1990.

Why is everyone missing the point that this effectivly ended any chance of other cities getting a casino. My opinion was casinos anywhere or casinos nowhere. Why should the big cities, who already have all the advantages, get even more. I think cities like Dayton, Akron etc. need the development more.

I don’t want to this pass, but I will accept the outcome… however I don’t believe a single fact that these groups put up on how this will help… The lottery was to help the schools… but why are so many in financial shambles??? People got to the out of state casinos from Ohio for Weekend getaways!! they don’t want to stay in the state, I can’t believe how gulliable the people of the state and country really are. It is sad how ignorant people have become.

I am GLAD to see that this may pass. Right now those who do gamble from Ohio (which is a lot) go to Michigain and Indiana and their money goes there. At least this will create jobs in Ohio, help Ohio’s economy now and the money spent in Casinos will go to Ohio Taxes and schools. It’s about time Ohio money stay in Ohio.

I checked and this is a democratic society. We can vote - just because you don’t like the outcome does not mean that special interests won.

It is sad to see that this is standing a good chance at being passed. Voter’s don’t seem to understand that the commercials are right - a monopoly for casinos in the state of Ohio are being voted into the state constitution. I guess it was only a matter of time before the special interests won and were granted a constitutional license to steal in the state.
