The numbers he claims to get from the referenced tax tables are not the numbers you actually get if you apply the tax tables to the example incomes. I do the author’s first example below. Try it yourself! Married Filing Jointly 2008 Single 2008 Marginal Tax Brackets Marginal Tax Brackets Tax Rate Over But Not Over Tax Rate Over But Not Over 10.0% $0 $16,050 10.0% $0 $8,025 15.0% $16,050 $65,100 15.0% $8,025 $32,550 25.0% $65,100 $131,450 25.0% $32,550 $78,850 28.0% $131,450 $200,300 28.0% $78,850 $164,550 Married Filing Jointly 1999 Single 1999 Marginal Tax Brackets Marginal Tax Brackets Tax Rate Over But Not Over Tax Rate Over But Not Over 15.0% $0 $43,050 15.0% $0 $25,750 28.0% $43,050 $104,050 28.0% $25,750 $62,450 31.0% $104,050 $158,550 31.0% $62,450 $130,250 The author’s numbers: 1999 (Clinton) Single making 30K - tax $8,400 2008 (Bush) Single making 30K - tax $4,500 claimed difference: $3,900 Actual numbers from tables: 1999 (Clinton) Single making 30K - tax $5,052 (0.15 x $25,750 = $3,862.50) + (0.28 x $4,250 = $1,190) = $5,052.50 2008 (Bush) Single making 30K - tax $4,099 (0.10 x $8,025 = $802.50) + (0.15 x $21,975 = $3,296.25) = $4,098.75 actual difference: $953

I don’t know how anyone with a memory would want to put Hillary in the White House. Lets see: Travel gate,Cattle futures, Whitewater, Vince Foster, Rose Law Firm, Botched health care reform, etc, etc…Do the research, she’s pathetic.

To the semi-ignorant person here regarding partial birth abortion: NO ONE IN THE WORLD is for Partial Birth Abortion. Just an FYI.

Obama may have just started his Ohio campaign; but, the Clinton’s have been well ahead of him with the MUD brigade. Having meticulously planned their coveted return to the White House for several years now, the Clintons will certainly not exit the scene with grace or dignity. This is the political duo that honed “The Politics Of Personal Destruction” into an artform; and, most certainly will not tolerate, who is in their mind, the “upstart Obama” to derail Hillary’s pre-choreographed coronation. With the ongoing Clinton blizzard, It’s important to keep “FACTS” in perspective. Hillary is a woman who hasn’t managed so much as a corner vegetable stand, or for that matter her own marriage; but, of course you could count Whitewater, and her tenure as “Madam” for Bill’s White House Brothel. So what possibly is there that qualifies Bill’s official “Bimbo Containment Chief” for the Presidency? Further, Hillary’s increasingly frequent crying jags raises a legitimate concern about her mental stability. Greg Neubeck

The Federal Deficit. The deficit can be thought of as the taxes we should be paying to cover our own spending. The deficit can be thought of as the taxes we dump on our children for benefits they will never receive. When Clinton left office the budget was balanced. Future generations were saving $400 per person on the cost of past debts. That amounts to a savings of more than $2000 per person over the deficits that existed when Clinton took office. The worst plunge into deep deficits occurred under GW. Bush. In just four years after GW Bush took office, the deficit jumped to over $1600 per person. During the eight years of the Clinton Administration about 23 million jobs were created, which comes out to about 240,000 jobs per month. By comparison, only a net of 5.6 million jobs have been created during the Bush years, which comes out to about 71,000 per month

The tax rates are indexed for inflation. $30,000 income in 1999 is not equal to $30,000 in 2008. In other words, if your income is same over noe year period, the amount of taxes you pay will automaticly decrease. Neither Democratic canidate has any plans to raise taxes on lower or middle income folks (making less than $75,000). Check the facts.

Here is a comparison of taxes under Clinton (1999) and Bush (2008): Single making 30K: $8,400 under Clinton; $4,500 under Bush. Single making 50K: $14,000 under Clinton; $12,500 under Bush. Single making 75K: $23,250 under Clinton; $18,750 under Bush. Married making 60K: $16,800 under Clinton; $9,000 under Bush. Married making 75K: $21,000 under Clinton; $18,750 under Bush. Married making 125K: $38,750 under Clinton; $31,250 under Bush. Both Clinton and Obama say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts. For whatever reason, a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above cannot wait for it to happen.
