Raga joins anti-tax group
Republican Tom Raga, a former state representative, is helping establish the Ohio chapter of Americans for Prosperity, which advocates for transparency in government and lower taxes. The group is particularly opposed to Ohio’s estate tax
“This tax doesn’t raise that much money. It’s essentially the export your wealthy citizens to Florida tax,” said Jack Boyle, state director for the Ohio chapter.
“A loved one’s death should never be a taxable event,” AFP’s literature says.
Now, that’s not to say that Raga is against all taxes. As a matter of fact, at the same time Raga is volunteering for AFP, he is advocating for a renewal of the property tax that supports Sinclair Community College, where he works full-time.

Tom Raga has always been a dim bulb. But like the untalented, generally befuddled character in the Dilbert cartoon series, he has always won advancement because he was tall, and business and government types give passes to people who can look down on most others. From his first public office as an appointee to Deerfield Township, to his eight years of lackluster performance in the Ohio House, Raga has shown that, as a mediocre politician, he can always be at his best. Raga will go where the political winds blow him, even if that means changing positions along the way. As a legislator, he took many positions that were opposite to those of Ken Blackwell. But when asked by Ohio’s former secretary of state to be his running mate, Tommy Boy closeted his positions and climbed on board the Blackwell express. Raga was a non-factor in Blackwell’s kamikaze race for governor in 2006 because he seemed more dazed by it than helpful. So its no surprise he can be for lower taxes on one hand while also seeking higher taxes to keep his paychecks coming in.By David Esrati

Which makes me wonder exactly what our elected representatives are paid to do- since we now have government agencies hiring lobbyists to lobby other electeds? When Sinclair passes a tax levy in Warren county and fires their lobbyists- they will get my vote. Until then, they get a big no.
