I pay taxes, therefore the flowers are mine

It was just after 11 on a Monday night when an Englewood police dispatch was leaving for the night.

Stepping out the front door of the police station, the dispatcher saw a woman uprooting flowers from a planting bed beside the entrance. The dispatcher went back inside and brought out an officer.

When asked what she was doing, the woman responded the flowers she was pulling up were “government flowers” and because she was a taxpayer, they belonged to her. (Think about that for a minute.)

When the officer ordered her to put the flowers back — and informed her she was going to be cited for theft — the woman responded, “If I’m getting charged with something, I’m taking the flowers with me.”

Instead, the officer cuffed her, cited her for theft and criminal damaging, and took her to the county lockup on the misdemeanor charges.

Perhaps the woman should have told the jailers that the key to her cell was a “government key” and because she was a taxpayer, it belonged to her.

Don’t forget all the tax money that went to the banks… Time to go get our money it must be ours since we paid for it.
