I was in the Kettering Friendly’s today at Stroop and Shroyer and noticed a sign advertising free ice cream on Saturday, June 7 from noon to 5pm.
I don’t have any more details yet, but it might be worth checking out, moms.
A quick Google search seems to indicate that it’s all area Friendly’s … free 4 oz. cones or dishes of any flavor ice cream. We have locations in Beavercreek, Kettering, Troy, Miamisburg and Vandalia.
Sounds yummy.

4 oz.?? That’s a half a cup or 1/4 of a pint. Hardly worth the gas money to get to Friendly’s.

Apparently, I haven’t perceived Friendly’s as very “friendly.” Although living just a mile away from the Kettering location for more than nine years, I remember going there only twice. (I have been to McDonald’s and Burger King far too many times.) Friendly’s seems not nearly so friendly as public TV’s Mr. Rogers. I see the building at Stroup and Shroyer, but from the outside no one seems to be at home. Sorry not to enjoy a neighborhood institution. Am I missing something? Is Friendly’s like the local coffee shops where so many friends meet?
