Madison to talk about meeting format
Madison Board of Education President Tim Young said the board will be discussing its meeting format on Monday.
The school board meets every three weeks currently, which ends up sometimes being once a month and sometimes twice a month.
For months with two meetings, Young said the board will discuss having one work session meeting and one regular business meeting.
Several local school boards, like Middletown and Franklin, have a work session and regular business meeting every month.
I asked the Ohio School Boards Association about the difference between a work and business meeting. Here’s what spokesman Scott Ebright said:
It really boils down to whether they will be voting on anything. A work session is a regularly scheduled board meeting, but one where the board decides in advance no action will be taken on any issue. Board that have two meetings a month will often set aside one for a work session.
