New superintendent approved
Tom York was approved for hire by four of the five Madison school board members today at 4 p.m.
Board Vice President Glenn Cappel voted against the hire, saying he couldn’t be sure York was the best candidate for the job because the board didn’t advertise the opening.
“I’m sure Mr. York is qualified,” he said. “I’m sure he’ll do a good job.”
York was given a contract valid May 1 through July 31, 2011. He’ll be paid $92,500 annually.
