Local students in D.C.
As students have a day off school, a lucky group from Madison and Carlisle are enjoying museums and restaurants in the very, very crowded Washington D.C.
Counselor Heather Allison, of Carlisle, called me with an update on their trip. She said the students went to the Freedom Concert, where they caught a glimpse of President-elect Barack Obama and VP Joe Biden, as well as a long list of stars, including Tom Hanks.
“It was really, really wonderful and amazing,” she said.
The group also went to the Library of Congress and got pictures with the new senator who took over for Obama.
Madison is also keep everyone updated with a blog, where you can even watch their television interview from before they left.
We should be hearing from some students either tonight or tomorrow, so I’ll update you with their comments as soon as possible.
I will also be spending the morning with Amanda Elementary students in Middletown, who are having a special assembly and parade for the Inauguration at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
