Superintendent retires, could be rehired

Superintendent Tom York has retired from Edgewood schools, Journal reporter Eric Robinette reported online today, and could be rehired as superintendent at an Aug. 1 school board meeting.

After an executive session Monday night, June 23, the board of education voted 4-1 to accept York’s resignation for reasons of retirement. They will consider rehiring York, which York said could result in a “significant” savings for the district.

York recently applied for a job as superintendent with Kings Local Schools in Warren County. York also previously applied for the superintendent job at Wayne Local Schools, but withdrew his name from consideration, said John Lazares, superintendent of Warren County Education Services Center which oversaw the search for Wayne and Kings.
