Hey, give me back my SUV!
CLAYTON Nov. 11 Police were called to Dorchester Drive after an attempt to repossess an SUV ended in property damage.
The complainant’s said the SUV they were trying to repossess had been lifted on the boom of the tow truck and was already strapped down when they knocked on the door of the key holder (subject), to see if he’d turn over the keys.
The subject exited his residence and moved another truck in front of the tow truck, blocking it in the driveway. Then he and his son began yelling at the complainants, telling them to put the vehicle down, which they refused to do.
The complainants said they told the subject to call the police if he had a problem, but subject’s son pushed one of them, and said they weren’t taking the vehicle. The subject got inside the vehicle that was lifted on the boom of the tow truck, started the ignition and accelerated in an attempt to pull the SUV off. He was able to get it off the boom, but damaged it and the tow truck in the process.
The SUV pulled the tow truck several feet, causing it to strike a parked vehicle in the driveway.
The subject parked the SUV in the garage and closed the garage door.
The responding officer observed two tire marks in the driveway and saw that the boom of the tow truck was turned sideways. Hydraulic fluid was leaking out of the hoses of the boom. There was also a dent in the driver’s side of the tow truck.
The complainant was arrested for criminal damaging and his son was taken into custody for assault, and two active warrants. They were transported to jail.
