Stress of the economy blamed for road rage spat
SPRINGBORO Sept. 11 Officers responded to the parking lot at 276 W. Central Ave. after a witness reported a fight.
An older male who was bleeding from his cheek was standing next to a vehicle. He pointed toward a younger man standing near a truck and said, “That guy hit me.”
That younger man, who was standing near the truck, told the officers, “I hit him.”
Both said they were driving east on West Central. The 62-year-old said he cut off the truck and unpleasant gestures were exchanged. He turned onto Park Drive and the driver of the truck, after continuing on, pulled into the lot.
The subject approached him and asked if he had a problem. He then punched the victim in the face.
The 21-year-old subject was arrested on a charge of assault. While en route to jail he said he was sorry. He also said the combination of the stress caused by the economy and the downfall of his business got the best of him.
