Man picks the wrong street to go stealing
CONCORD TWP. May 31 A 19-year-old Troy man looking to steal money and other items from vehicles picked the wrong street. An off-duty sheriff’s deputy was outside his home in a subdivision south of Troy when he saw a man stop down the street in a truck with its lights off. The man, dressed in black, exited the truck and walked down the street. When he returned a few minutes later, the off-duty deputy ordered him to lie down in the street. Other deputies arrived and observed the man had a bucket of change. The subject said he broke into two vehicles, taking a CD and film case, as well as the bucket of change. The vehicle owners were located and identified their items. The subject claimed it was the first time he’d stolen anything and offered to take a lie detector test. He was charged with theft and criminal trespassing.
