Woman’s use of the ‘power trip’ phrase earns her a trip to jail

MONROE TWP. May 14 A Troy woman stopped for allegedly speeding told a sheriff’s deputy he was on a “power trip” before she made a trip to jail herself. The deputy reported the 23-year-old was stopped at Ohio 202 and Children’s Home Road for driving 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. She called the deputy a name after realizing that he ticketed her three months before. She then threw the ticket through the sunroof and repeatedly refused to exit her vehicle and pick up the ticket. She was advised she’d face littering and failure to comply charges but refused to comply. The subject told the deputy he was “on a cop power trip… because you can’t be in power with your wife at home so you have to come to work and play power trip.” She was taken to jail for failure to comply and littering, expired registration and speeding.

She should have received a ticket for being an idiot. I hope she calls the judge the same thing.

Good for her!!!! It’s about time people started standing up to these Township Police. The majority of them are totally out of control and yes, they are on a power trip!!!!

If anyone should be picking up speeders, it should be the Sheriff’s office or the State Highway Patrol. That way they are all on the same page.

Sound like a 23-year old that hasn’t yet learned, that “in the field,” the cops will always win. Always. It’s just a matter of to what degree.

I agree with Linda and the driver. And I would like to say no matter how many lives the police or pta moms think they are saving. Puppies die every day. It’s a fact of life. Accidents happen. Life happens. My dad died in a freak accident while on vacation. You don’t see me out warning people to stay out of saunas or not go on vacation. Everything is hazardus to our precious lives. Living our lives everyday we encounter risks. Don’t shave or shower that’s dangerous too.

How’s the old song go “I fight authority and authority always wins.” She could very well be right but she still ends up in jail.

She’s obviously disrespectful (caught speeding twice by same cop)and angry for being caught being bad. Linda and GenX are probably in the same boat as the young Troy twit.

What the heck do we have laws and cops for if we don’t want to obey them? I know there are some who abuse their authority, but in my experience, most are just doing their jobs. They have to have the upper hand. If they don’t command respect from the beginning, they lose control. I hope she needs a cop sometime and none comes.
