Order to stay out of car turns into chase and arrest
DAYTON March 11 An officer observed a vehicle that appeared to be parked too close to a stop sign in the 700 block of South Euclid Avenue and learned the registration expired in May. The officer called for a tow truck and was then approached by a male who asked the officer if he was doing anything with the vehicle. He was advised it was being towed and the male said he was going to move it into his backyard. The officer again informed him it was being towed. The male then went inside his nearby residence. The officer noticed the male a few minutes later near the front of the vehicle to be towed. He was attaching a battery charger and said he was charging it so he could move the vehicle into the back. A brief struggle ensued as the subject tried to get into his vehicle, despite being ordered not to do so. He was able to break free from the officer’s grip and ran across the street. He ran around three parked vehicles, three times before being Tased. The probes didn’t stick and had no effect. The subject continued running and jumped a 3-foot, picket fence that collapsed under his weight. He was Tased again but took off his jack and continued running to his front porch where he jumped the railing. He landed in his fenced-in driveway and ran to the back. He jumped on top of a dog house, over the 6-foot privacy fence, and into another backyard. The subject’s pit bull tried to attack the officer but was chained and unable to reach him. The subject was apprehended with the help of another officer who had arrived on scene. He was transported to jail for obstructing official business.

I am waiting on the first foolish comment about race to appear on here. After all, that MUST have had something to do with this, right? The only person to blame here is the one who tried to move the car after he was told it was being towed. End of story! And, he is lucky his dog wasn’t KILLED!By charles banks

This is a waste of time and resources. Placing a tow warning sticker on this vehicle and later towing this car had the vehicle not been moved would have been a better option. The story only states that the tags expired in May. It is still May and those tags could have expired 20 minutes before the officer arrived. Let’s fight real crime.By lawabider

The vehicle was parked illegally “too close to a stop sign.” Also, which May does/did the tags expire in (2008 or 2009)????????
