Will a new Miami football coach be named later today?
Local 12 (WKRC-TV) reported Thursday night that “rumors were circulating” that the RedHawks would name Michigan State assistant Don Treadwell as their new coach.
During an 10 p.m. update from the Big East/SEC Invitational at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Local 12 reported that Treadwell was rumored to be the new coach.
On the 11 p.m. newscast, though, Local 12 left Treadwell’s out, saying only that the RedHawks were expected to name a new coach today.
Treadwell, in his second season as offensive coordinator at Michigan State, was a four-year starter at wide receiver at Miami (1978-81). He was an assistant coach at Miami (1992-93) and also had stints at Youngstown State, Stanford, Boston College, North Carolina State, Ball State and Cincinnati.
